It was suggested by the City Clerk that the City Engineer be
laid off and onl~ have hi~ when the services of an engineer was
absolutel~ necessarJ.
The City Clerk, Dunnicl~ff, also requested that the Cemetery be
,surveyed and put in shape so that deeds coald be made.
The matter of the safety of the public school was talked over and 'the
Council 'called in County Superintendent of Public Instruction to
ascertain what steps if any were being taken to repair same and lliake
it safe for the coming terlIJ of school. The Superintendent claimed
that he had beeÙ left in uharge of the repairing of the building
and that proper and ample repairs would be made. Mr. D. L. MacGlashan
was also present and!! reported on the condition of the school building.
That it was not safe.
Motion was made by CouncilmaD Adams, seconded by Councilman O. o. Davis
that Mr. W. R. Gary's check of $1,000.00, which was paid in at the
time his bid was presented for the City of Okeechobee Water-Sewerage
Time Warrants, be returned to him. Motic,n carried unanimously and
the check was returned.
President Good made a report relative to his interview with the
Sup't of the light plant and statèd that the extensions of the
service would be made as soon as poles could be secured.
Motion was made by Councilman O. O. Davis, seconded by Councilman
H. C. Adams, that the City Council pay the Maule Paving Company
;$3,000.00 on account of the 25Îb which is being retained on their
paving con~ract. Motion was unanimous.
