SR 70 widening timelines
City staff has been developing narratives for submittal to the State
and Federal agencies for our share of the Economic Stimulus
Package, if/when anything comes to fruition.
As part of that process, we have clarified the SR 70 widening
timeline and attached is a copy of the letter from DOT which
includes a reduction in construction plans relating to the January
Legislative Session, specifically, the deferment of construction to
outside the 5-year plan of the 34th to 80t' avenue section.
As for the intersection of US441 and SR70, which isn't addressed
in the letter, I've been informed by FDOT that only the design and
Right-of-way acquisition is part of the 5-year plan. Not the
construction (estimated at $2.8 million). Also I've been told that
the allocation of $480k will be attributed to Planning and
Engineering, but not until 2011/2012. When asked if that project
was being delayed as a consequence of the budget, I was told that
this was the original timeline. I'm a bit disappointed, as I was
originally led to believe that this project was on a faster timeline.
