1941-01-06 Regular ~ 633 January 6, 1941 ,. - The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular I session at the City Hall ..~ 8:00 P. II. on the above date with the following present: Kayor H. H. Raulerson, Councilmen W. R. Page, S. R. Raifsnider, J. K. Roe, Sr., O. L. Raulerson and I. N. MoMullen and Alma Sherman, City Clerk. Judge T., W. Oonely, Jr. administered the oath of office to Kayor Raulerson, who stated that it was in order for the Councilmen and the City Clerk . to also take the oath of their respective offices. Judge Conely proceeded to administer the oath of office to the Councilmen and to the City alert. S. R. Raifsnider was chosen as temporary Oha.1rman and announced that nominations were in order for the election of a President of the City Council. . Councilman Roe nominated Councilman Page, nomination which was seconded by '. ""-I Councilman MoMullen. There being no further nominations Councilman Page was : ~ declared elected as President of said Council and was invited to preside. The President expressed his t~anks to the Councilmen for selecting him as such and announced that an Attorney should be selected to represent the Oity~ Upon motion of Councilman Roe, seconded by Oounoilman Raifsnider and carried, T. W. Conely was retained as City Attorney. The President stated that it was necessary to appoint a Chief ofPòlioe. The City alert read the applications which had been filed and a secret ballot was -'. Aoting cast. R. O. Evans received five votes and was declared appointed as/ ChIef of Police. The application of N. o. Stewart for appointment as Fire Chief was read and upon motion of Councilman Raifsnider, seconded by Councilman Raulerson and carried, N. O. Stewart was appointed as Fire Chief. Upon motion of Councilman Roe seconded ~y Councilman Raulerson and oarried, O. o. McOain was retained as Aoting Water Superintendent, being employed on a monthly basis. Council meetings were authorized., pro- 0- . vided same could be published at no cost to the Oi ty. The Council was informed . that the Editor of the local paper offered to publish said minutes withou't cost and the Clerk was instructed to furnist him'wlth & copy of all minutes of meetings hereafter held until the further order of the Council. Upon motion of Councilman McMullen seconded by Councilman Roe all bills payable to the City are to be paid to the City Clerk and sa.1d Clerk was instructed to prepare and publish, and mail to each water consumer, a notice that all water bills must be paid at the office of the City Clerk, and to no other person, and that the failure to pay said bills on or before the 15th day of the month said bills are c=) ! dated, that the supply of water will be cut and an additional charge will be made . for water to be furnished after same has been cut. 0 . J Ja.nuary 9, 1941 The City Council of the City of Okeechobae, Florida, met in regular . adjourned session at the City Hall at 8:00 P. M. on the above date and the follow- ing were present: Mayor H. H. Raulerson; W. R. Page, President of City Council; Councilmen Roe, Raulerson, McMullen and Raifsnider, With Alma. Sherman, City Clerk; T. W. Cone~. Jr., City Attorooy; C. C. ~Cain, Aoting W~er s~t; B. o. Steart, 0 Fire Chief and R. O. Evans, Chief of police in attendance. The Council proceeded to invest7ß\e records of the Water department. c=) \ ;.:. Upon motion by Councilman Roe, seconded by Councilman Raulerson a.nd. carried, the 'Oity Clerk was authorized to employ assistance for a period of five days to investigate delinquent consumers of City water and such help be paid a -minimum fee of $25.00 and the commission of 10% on all sums collected by him in excess of $250.00, and that the person making such investigation file a written report with the City Council as soon as the investigation is completed. Motion was made by OouncilmanRa1fsnider, seconded by Oouncilmàn McMullen and carried that the OitY.Olerk be required to furnish Surety Bond in the amount of O. $2,000.00, and the Chief of police to furnish same in the amotmt of $1,000.00. : !
