The City Co~cil of the City of Okeechobee, Floriù, met in re~~ oojomœd I
session at the City Hall at ':00 P. M. on the above date, and the following were
present:R. H. Raulerson, President of the City Council, OoUßcilmen:Hunt and Nix,
with Alma Sherman, Deputy Clerk, T. W. Conely, Jr., City Attorney, L. L. Conrad,
Chief of Police and N. O. Stewart, Fire Chief in attendance.
Minutes of the meeting, on October 15th ~~ were read and approved as reàd
. Motion was made by Oouncilman Hunt, seconded by Councilman Nix a.tld carried to
accept the 1940 Tax Roll assessed valuations presented by the City Tax Assessor.
The following Resolution was presented by Councilman Hunt who moved its
adoption. Motion was seconded by Councilman Nix and carried. 4IÞ

WHEREAS, this City Council deems it to the best interests of the
Citizens of said City that the Chief of Police be appointed by the City
Oouncilinstead of baing elected, and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Charter of said City and Laws
of Florida this Council has the authority to appoint said Obief of Police
or have same elected in City Eleotions,

appointed by the City Council instead of bei~g elected by the people.

Acts of 1939, the City Council of the City of Okeechobee is authorized

IHEREAS, the Kayor and. City Council deems it to the best interests I
of the Citizens of the said City of Okeechobee that a re-registration of '
electors aforesaid be held, now, therefore, it is hereby provdded as follows: I
SEOTION 1. That it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of the City I
of Okeechobee, Florida., to open the registration books of said City on the I
13th day of November at the City Hall, in said City, for the, purpose of I
re-.registezi~ggall electors in said Oi ty who intend to vote or qualify in II
any General, Primary or Special Elections, to be held in said City of ¡

SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE KAYOR AID CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEEœOBEE,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. The Kayar of the City of Okeechobee shall receive a salary
of 825.00 per annum beginning on the first Monday in January, A. D. 1941
for two years thereafter.

AN ORDINANOE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLEOTION OF TAXES
FO~ THE. YEAR 19~0 FOR THE CITY OF OK¡ECHOBEE, FLORIDA.
BE IT. ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY or
OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City of Okoechobee, Florida,
hereby levies a tax.of 68 mills on each dollar valuation of
real and personal proporty within the corporate limits of the

City of Okeochobee, Florida, for the year 19~0; such taxes
shall be assessed and collected in the manner provided by law, I
() PROVIDED HOWEVER, that no taxes shall be assessed against home- I
steads having a valuation of $5,000.00 and less; homesteads
0 having a valuation of more than 15,000.00 shall be assessed on
I such amounts in excess of $5,000.00, except as provided in
Section 2, of this ordinance.
Section 2. That 27 mills of such tax shall be used
for General City purposes and shall be assessed for the general

fund of said City. That ten (10) mills of such tax shall be 1
assessed for the payment and satisfaction of that certain judg-
ment obtained by Yeoman's Mutual Life Insurance Company, against
O. the City ~ Okeechobee, Floriû; said j~~M having iss~d o~
of the U. S. District Court of tho Southern District of Florida,
a copy of which is recorded in tho office of the Clerk of Circuit
