The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met at the City Hall
at 7:30 P. M. on the above date, in regular session, with the following manbers
present: W. J. Hendry, Mayor, H. H. Raulerson, President of City CoUl1ail, Council
men Hunt, Swain and Culbreth, with Alto Watford, City Clerk, T. W. Conely, Jr.,
City Attorney, L. L. Conrad, Chief of Police, C. C. McCain, Water Supt., and N. O.
Stewart, Fire Chief in attendance.

The City Clerk read the resignation of Councilman E. H. Lott, who has
moved away from the City; resignation was accepted but Council deferred action of
naming a successor unt il next regular meet ing. .
J. S. Oadol, right-of-way engin,8z for State Road DoplU'tment was present
and submitted a plan of moving the SwindaI Service Station, west in Oklochnee Street
toward the American Legion building in order to got the building out of State Road
8. The Council refused to give this permit and turned the matter over t9 the City
Attorney for further action.
The Council thwlked Chief of Police Conrad for mowing the parks, and
Mayor Hendry for the use of his tractor mower, as well as tho Sheriff, for the use
òf county prisoners to rake up the parks after mowing.

The City Council of the City of Okecchobee, Florida., met in regular
session at 8:00 0' clock P. M. at the City Hall on the above date, ani the following
'were present: Mayor W. J. Hendry, H. H. Raulerson, President of City Council, .
Oow1cilmon Culbreth, Swain and Huni, with Alma Sherman, Deputy City Clerk, T. w.
Conely, Jr., City Attorney, C. O. McCain, Water Supt., L. L. Conrad, Chief of Police
and N. O. Stewart, Fire Chief in attendance.
Petition to sponsor. a WPA proå~ov;for work on Jefferson street ani Avenue
E in East Okeechobee was presented, voted on and ~prov.d.
Mr. Chas. L. Raulerson appeared before the Council relative to the purcha
of Fire Equipment and introduced representatives of different companies.. After a
general discU8sj¡œn it was decided to defer action until ve.rious types of oquipmen1ï
could be considered.
The following bills were approved and ordered paid:

Councilman Culbreth presented the following Resolution and moved its
adoption; and upon being seconded by Counailme.n Swain was put to ~ vote end. unani-
mously adopted:

WHEREAS, this Council is advised that many street
intereoctions with State Highways running through the City of
Okeochoboe need repair, and
WHEREAS, said C it Y is wit h9ut funds wi th whi ch to do
such repairing, and

WHEREAS, traffic over said State Highways is in .. large measure
8', responsible for the con4ition of s&id intersections,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the State Roa.d Department
~e r7~uested to cooperate with the City Officials in having said streets

repaired as Boon as possible.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this Resolution be forwarded
to Hon. Arthur Hille, Chairman, State Road Department, Tallahassee, Florida,
o.nd Hon. Brooks Batemlt.f1, Kember State Road Depertment, Miami, Florida.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 5th day of September, A. D. 1939.

Resignation of O. C. McOain as Building Inspestor was received and upon
motion duly seconded same was accepted.
Mr. T. H. Nix addressed the Council relative to condition of street at
intersection of Parrott Avenue and North Park ~troet, w1d requested that repairs
be made to relieve overflow condition on account of rains.
Upon motion duly seconded and carried, City Clerk was instructed to notify
J. B. Atkinson to repair the building located on Lot 12 of Block 10 of Riverside
Park Addition to City of Okeechobee, within 45 days from date or remove same.
Upon motion duly seconded &nd carried the Council held an executive
session, after which open session was held.
Upon motion duly sec~ndød and carried the Council proceeded to elect a
Oouncilm&n to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of E. H. Lott. A secret
ballot was made Md was as follows:
A. W. Brass, Sr. received 3 votes
T. H. Nix received 1 vote

Mr. Brass being present was invited to take his scat with the Council.
Judge T. W. Conoly, Jr. administered the Oath of Office ~d Councilman Brass was
4IÞ duly seated.
Tho President stat cd that Councilman Brass was appointed on 211 eommi ttoes
on which E. H. Lott had served, except that S. M. Swain had been appointed Chairman
of tho Water Committee of which E. H. Lott was former Chairman.
Upon motion Council adjourned.
