M. and the following were present: W. J. Hendry, H. H. Raulerson, E. H. Lott, H. G. Culbreth, S. :M. Swain, O. L. Hunt, Alto Watford, L. L. Conrad, T. W. Conoly. T. W. T. W. Conely then administered the oath of office to L. L. Coarad to serve as Ohiof of Police of the City of Okoechobee, Florida, for the term beginning January 3rd, 1939. Upon motion by Councilman Culbreth, seconded by Oow1cilman Swain, Council- man Raulerson was elected tomtorary Chairman. Councilman Lott nominated Councilman ~ulerson for President of City Counc 1, nomination was seconded by Councilman Culbreth and upon vote being taken Councilman Raulerson was elected President of the City Council. . Councilman Swain nominc.ted Councilman Culbreth for President pro-tom of th I,." Cit'y Council, nomination was seconded by Councilman Hunii and upon vote being token Cowlcilman Culbreth was elected President pro-tem of tho City Council. 4IÞ Councilman Hmu nominated T. W. Conely for City Attorney, nomination was seconded by Councilman Lott and upon vote being taken T. W. Conely was elected City Attorney, of the City of Okcechoboe, Florida, salary to be $25.00 per month. - Councilman Lott made motion to select the first Tuesday of each month at 7: 30 P. }4.. as r~gula.r mooting night s of the Oi ty Council for the next two years: Motion was seconded by Councilman C~übreth and carried. NO. 19~ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SEOTIOI TWENTY NINE OF ORDINANCE NO. 55 or THE CITY OF OKEIDCHOBEE, FLORIDA, BEING AN ORDINANOE OREATING A WATER OOMMITTEE AND A SUPERINTENDENT OF WATER WORKS FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, PRESORIBING THE DUTIES OF SAID OOMMITTEE AND SUPERIlqTENDENT i THEIR QUALIFICATIONS AND FUNOTIONS; I PRESCRIBING THE MANNER AND MEANS IN V~ICH WATER CONNECTIONS MAY , BE MADE; PROHIBITING UNAUTHORIZED OONNECTIONS AND DESTRUOTION OR ! "SECTION 1.- RATES AND OHARGES: The rates of water to ~be consumers ! of Okeechobee, Florida, shall be classified according to the following schedules: Where no meter is installed a flat rate of $1.50 for each fixture or spigot; Where a hot and cold tap are placed in one plumbing fixture, such arrangrnent shall be considered one opening. ~~ere moters are placed the minimum rate sh~ll be $1.50 per mo. n'th, /~he minimum being defined as 5,000 gallons, the sliding scale boi~g 1œ follows: For the next 25,000 gallons the rates shall be 30~ I pey thôusand gallons, and in excess of 30,000 gallons shall be at the rate of 20~ per thousand gallons. / Where there is more than one housc connected with one meter, each house'sháll pay the minimum rate of $1.50 per month and each of 0 such~houscs shall be v.llowed five thousand gallons for said minimum rate all Qver 5,000 gallons for each house shall bo at the rat e of 30CP per . Councilman Lott presented the following Resolution and moved its adoption. Upon being seconded by Councilman Swain and carried, the following Resolution was Pàssed and adopted in reguler open adjourned session: ß.¡~Q.~Y.ll.Q.¡ BE IT RESOLVED that for a period of five years from January 1st, A. D. 1939, all canning plants engaged primarily during said period in tho canning of fruits, fruit juices and vegetables, shall be exempt from all taxes levied by the City of Okcechobee. . I The exemption herein authorized shall not apply to real estate owned and used by such canning plants except the real estate occupied as the location rc- quired to house such canning plants and the buildings and property situated thereon, ~ together with such l,ands, adjoining thereto, as may be required for warehouses and ~ storage facilities and being used for such purposes. Conrad, Chief of Põlice, agreed to donate the SlW of Thirty Dollars per month, of his salary, beginning JQnuary, 1939, tmtil further notice.
