Mayor Hancock st~ted that meeting of the Council had been called
for the purpose of discussing Legislative matters.

WHEREAS, a Bill has been introduced in the Seaate of the Florida
Legislature which directs and authorizes the State Auditor or his assist8~*
to annually audit the affairs and records of each and every municipality
within the State of Florida; and directing said State Auditor to promulgate
Rules and regulations requiring said municipalitJes to establish 8~d adopt
uniform systems of accounts and records as promulgated by said State AuditœT
and to require the enforcement of such Rules and regulations and prescribing
penalties for their violations, and authorizing the Government to-emplQY

wREREAS this Council believes that such Legislation will destroy
th~ efficiency of' said City government and will tend to cres.te a,dditilda.l

the citizens and residents of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, th~t the af-
f~irs of said City can be best administered by local citizens instead of a
state organization, and
WHEREAS, this Council believes that the annual appropriation,
under the provisions of sl!Üd Bill, of Forty Thous8.nd Dolla.rs is a useless
expenditure and ca~ be eliminated.

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved, that Hon. C. F. Raulerson, state
Sen~tor and Hon. Wm. Griffis, COUl1ty Representative, be imediately notifiei
that this Council is opposed to provisions of said Senahe Bill 418, and that
said Representatives be requested to oppose said Bill and do everything pos-
sible to defeat same.
BE IT FURTHUR RESOl,VED that copies of this Resolution be imed-
iately forwaxded to Hon. Davià Sholtz, Governor, Hon. Wm. C. Hodges, Pres.
Florida Senate Hon. W. B. Bishop, Speaker of the House of Representatives,
Hon. C. F. Rauierson, State Senator, and. Hon. WID. Griffis, Representative.

The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in
regular session on the above date, at 8:30 P. M. a.t the City H81l, with
the following present: H. H. Hancock, Mayor, O. L. Hunt, President of
City Council, Councilmen Coleman, Domer, Raulerson, and Singletary,
Alto Ws.tford, City Clerk, T. W. Conely, Jr., City Attorney, L. C. Tootle,
Water Supt., W. S. A. Henderson, Fire Chief and R. C. Eva~s, Chief of
police.
Minutes were adopted as read.
Mrs. John Padgett appeared before Council in regards to City
exempting her water reat, in as much as she is a widow. Matter was reffer~
to Water committee.
D. B. McCarthy appeared before Council in regards to water rates.
J. W. Walston appeared before Council in regards to his water bill. Matter
was reffered to Water commit.e.
Nathan Zelmenovitz appeared before Council in regards to water
services. Matter was referred to Water committee.
Ordinance NO.:~ was presented by Councilman Singlemary Who
moved its adoption, and upon being seconded by Councilman Coleman and put
to a vote was unanimously adopted.

THE PAYMENT AND COLLECTION THEREOF AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR DOING
BUSINESS WITHOUT LICENSE OR OTHER FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE PROVISIONS
THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
OKEECHOBEE? FLORIDA.
Section l.
That in addition to the licenses imposed under the provisions of
Ordinance #126 of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, the following licenses
are hereby required:
ITINERANT MERCHANTS - Cash bond in the ¡mount of Five Hundred
($500.00) Doll&rs in addition to license fee as prescribed in Ordinance
#126 of the City of Okeechobee, Florida.
