Florida, met in special session at the City Hall at g:OO P. M. on the above
date for the purpose of considering Resolution in regards to settlement of
delinquent taxes.
The following were present: H. H. Hancock, Mayor, O. L. Hill1t, Pres-
ident of City Council, Councilmen Raulerson, Coleman, Singletary and Domer, with
Alto Watford, City Clerk, W. S. A. Henderson, Fire Cheif, R. C. Evans, Cheif of
police, L. C. Tooite, Water Supt., and T. W. Conely, Jr., City Attorney.
Resolution
The following was presented by Councilman Raulerson who moved its
adoption and upon being seconded by Coill1cilman by Coill1cilman Singletary and put
to a vote, was unanimously adopted.

4IÞ WHEREAS, the City of Okeechobee, in the Countyof Okeechobee and State
of _Florida, has heretofore issued and sold bonds of the said City for the purpose
I of making certain improvements, including the paving and hard-surfacing of streets,
construction and laying of sewers, drains and water mains, ~ni
WHEREAS, a large percent of the owners of property in the said City
of Okeechobee have failed to pay taxes on their property, both real and personal,
for the past several years, and
WHEREAS, it is impossible for the said Cityof Okeechobee to meet its
obligations due to the non-payment of taxes, ffi1d
WHEREAS, a large amount of bonds and interest of said City is now
past due and unpaid, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, deems
it expedient and to the best interest of the said City that some relief be
given the tax payers in order that taxes may be paid and obligations of the
said City be met,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the tax Co11ecter of the City
of Okeechobee, Florida, be, and he is hereby instructed and authorized to accept
bonds, at par, of the said City ot Okeechobee, with all unmatured coupons hereto
attached and/or mat~~ed interest coupons of any such bonds in payment of taxes
of every kind whatsoever, including interest or penalties thereof levied or
assessed by the said City of Okeechobee, Florida, for all years prior to the year
1933, PROVIDED, HOWEVER, that such amounts levied during the years 1931-32
and 1933 for debt service by virtue of Court Orders shall be paid in cash and
II- provided further that when bonds and/or interest coupons are so accepted by the
Tax Collector of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, in payment of taxes levied or
assessed for the years aforesaid, then and in that event, before such bonds and/or
interest coupons aforesaid are accepted in payment thereof, taxes levied and
. assessed by the said City of Okeechobee, for th. e year 1934, both real and personal,
shall be paid in cash. Be it further resolved, that the Tax Collector of said
City, be, and he is, hereby authorized and instructed to permit the redemption
of all taxes on the last assessed valuation of property, provided same is the
lowest assessment of any years for Which said taxes are delinquent.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the payment and redemption of said taxes in pursuance
of this resolution shall be allowed for a period of ninty days from the date
hereof and upon the expiration of the time for the payment and redemption of said
taxes under the provisions of this resolution, the Tax Collector shall proceed to
collect taxes in the same manner prior to the passage of this resolution.

Read a third time and passed in open session of the City Council this 12th. day
of March, A. D. 1935.

Upon motion of Councilman Raulerson and seconded by Councilman Singletary
and carried, salry of special policeman was set at three dollars per day,
if and When the Mayor deems it necessary to appoint such policeman.
Upon motion Council moved to adjourn ~~till Tnursday night,
march 14, at 7:30 P. M.

date for the purpose of conàidering resolution in regards to releasing
Li berty Bonds.

President of City Council, Councilmen Raulerson, Coleman, Singletary and
Domer, with Alto Watford, City Clerk, W. S. A. Henderson, Fire Cheif, R. C.
Evans, Cheif of Police, and T. W. Conely, Jr., City Attorney, also L. C.
Tootle, Water Supt.

WHEREAS? The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida,
entered into an agreement with Citizens Bank of Stuart at Stuart, Florida,
vlhereby said Bank was duly designa.ted the Official Depository for the said
City of Okeechobee, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said agreement tœ said Citizens Bank of
Stuart delivered to City of Okeechobee, Florida, the following described
securities:
1- $500.00 u. S. Treasury Bond dated
October 15th.! 1933, Due October15th.,
1945, No. 3l465E, bearing interest 3t%
with interest coupon maturing April 15th.,
1934 and subsequent attached.
1- $1,000.00 U. S. 4th., 4t%? Liberty
Loan Bond of 1933-38, Maturity No.EO2687635
with àpril15th., 1934, and subsequent
interest coupons attached.
WHEREAS, the deposits of said City of Okeechobee is less than -
$5,000.00 and it is unlikely that said deposits will exceed that sum in
the near future and all depos its of sai d Bank are insured up to $5, 000.00

WHER~AS, the said Citizens Bw1k of stuart has requested this
Council 12:> release the secu:ri ties above mentioned and described,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that said securities be, and they
,:tre hereby released unto the said Oi tizens Bank of Stuart, with the under-
standing that if the said deposits of the sai d 01 ty of Okeechobee exceed
the amow1t of $5,000.00, that said Bank will imediately deposit s~tisfactory
secuxit-¡~1 upon demand of the City Council; Be it further resolved that
the City Clerk be, and he is, hereby authorized and instructed to deliver
the above described securities to the said Citizens Benk of st~t and
obtain receipt therefor.
