Pursuant to adjournment the City Council of the City of Okeechoqee, Florida,
met at the City Hall at 7.30 o'clock P. M. on the above date and the following
were presen~: H. H. Hancock, Mayor, Alto Watford, President City Council, Counci1-
I men J. H. Walker, Sr., J. D. Brett, and D. B. McCarthy with R. P. Fletcher, City
Clerk, L. ~. Conrad, Chief of Police,.. G. O. Durrance, City Attorney and L. C. Tootle,

Minutes of meetings held October 2nd, October 9th, October l8~h, October 19th
and October 31st, 1934 were read and approved.

Street between Block 236 and 237 by ~he, FER! and requested Co-unci1 to agree not to
pave said street for a periocl of five years.
The following fteso1ution was offered by Councilman McCarthy, who moved its
adoption, motion seconded by Councilman Walker and passed:
RESOLUTION
I ' 1IIIERAS, the Federal Emergency ReUet Aesooiation has spprovsd a projsot for the
improvement and beautification of the Public School grounds in Okeechobee City schools,

WHEREAS, Miami street runs between the school grounds and the Foot Ball Field
and the opening or paving of said street would materially interfere wi th t he pro- '
posed improvements Wþioh are contemplated in said project, and
WHEREAS, the City Oouncilis desirous of aiding the said Federal Emer en
Relief Assooiation in any manner possible that will add to the health jg oy
of our City or schools, or en oyment

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Okeechobee, Florida, that the City
will defer the opening or paving of Miami street between First and Second Streets for
a period of five years from date hereof. v
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is not the intention of the said City Council to
close said street by this resolution, but to allow the use of said street for the puœ-
pose of landscaping, beautification or improvement by the Federal Emergenc; Relief
Association without interference by said City for the period hereinbefore mentioned.

On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Brett, Council agreed
to exempt Et of Lot 4, Block 166 from City taxes for a period of five years beginn-
ing January 1st, 1935 if used for Lodge purposes during that period.
On motion of Councilman Brett, seconded by Co unci 1. man McCarthy! Council agreed
to furniSh R. C. Evans gasoline and oil to an amount not to exceed ,10.00 per month
to be used in performing his duties as policeman of the City of Okeechobee.
Councilman Brett moved that the following names be erased or stricken from the
City Registration Book and that City Clerk be authorized to advertise said list of
names by posting same in three public places wi thin th~ City of Okeechobee, Florida,
