Administrator Whitehall addressed the Council with information regarding the development of a policy for conveying
property within the City Commerce Center. Following a lengthy discussion, the Council Instructed Mr. Whitehall to
develop an application whereby applicants can submit to the City for Council consideration. In that application
the proposed business must disclose what type of business they want to operate. How many Jobs the
business will create? Amount of acreage required, or size of lot needed? Existing track record? When they
will open for business? Amount of offer per acre to purchase the land?
In addition to previous action taken to find property located at 1811 to 1905 South Parrott Avenue, owner Marvin
Brantley, the Code Enforcement Board (CEB) took the following action at their September 13, 2005 meeting: "Find
Case No. 05-218 in violation of Code Book Sec. 30-40(2) and to declare the property a safety hazard and nuisance."
The violation consists of thirty-foot wide fire lanes within the property every one-hundred feet to permit fire and
emergency vehicles access to the interior of the property. The board gave the owner thirty days, from the date of the
September 20,2005 City Council Meeting, in which to have these fire lanes cleared. They then recommended to the
City Council that they immediately begin to procure bids or make a plan of action, or clear the fire lanes. On the thirty.
first day, from the City Council meeting that plan would be executed if the property is not in compliance.
Following a discussion between the Council, Attorney Cook, and CEB Chairperson Worley, Council Member
. Chandler moved to Instruct the City Administrator to obtain bids to clear fire lanes on the Brantley property:
seconded by Council Member Markham.
