Okeechobee, Florida, Oct. 2nd, 1934.
The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at II
the City Hall at 7.30 o'clock P. M. on the above date and the following were present:
H. H. Hancock, Mayor, Alto Watford, President of City Council, Councilmen J. D. Brett,
J. H. Walker, Sr., D. B. McCarthy and A. W. Brass with R. P. Fletcher, City Clerk,
G. C. Durrance, City Attorney, L. L.Conrad, Chief of police, W. 8. A. Henderson,
Fire Chief and L. C. Tootle, Water Superintendent in attendance.
Minutes of meeting held September 4th,1934 were read and approved.
Mr. H. L. Elledge appeared before Council relative to buildings located on Lots
7 and S, Block 149 and requested Council not to have said buildings torn down. He
was advised that CoUl1cil will notify him before having buildings torn down. tIÞ
Messrs. Goldberg, ,Greenberg and H. Raulerson appeared.before Council and request-
ed Council to pass an ordinance requiring any person or persons engaging in any busi- I
neBS within the corporate limits of Okeechobee who are not citizens of Okeechobee to
deposit a bond with the City that they will continue in business for at least one
year. The matter was referred to the City Attorney for investigation with instructions
to report to Council.
Mrs. Rosa B. Coachman appeared before COill1Cil relative to City furnishing water
without cost to her home.
On motion of Councilman Brett, seconded by Councilman Brass, Council instru(:1ted
Chief of Police to have building located on Lot 9, Block 207 torn down within ten
days from date.
On motion of Councilma~ Brett, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, Council instruct-
ed City Clerk to notify owner of building located on Lot 1, Block B, MacGlashan's
Addition to East Okeechobee that unless building is repaired Council will condemn
said building. I
On motion of Councilman Brass, seconded by Cow1cilman Brett, Council instructed
City Clerk to notify owners of building located on Lot 12, Block E, Wright's 3rd
Addition to have såid building torn down within thirty days from date of notice or 4IÞ
City will have same tor~. down.
On motion of Councilman Walker, seconded by Councilma~ McCarthy, Council in-
stucted City Tax Collector to levy on personal property of Southland Hotel for de-
linquent taxes and advertise same for saJe on first Monday in November 1934.
On motion of Councilman Brett, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, Council approved
loan on Oct. 1, 1934 from Water Fund to General in the sum of $210.00 and authorized
loan I~ä of ~$28.00 from I&8 $17,500. Refunding Bond Fund to General Fund and $100.00
from Water Fund to Gener~l Fund. II
On motion Council adjourned to meet at 7.30 o'clook P. M. October 9th, 1934.
