Hanoock, Mayor, Alto Watford, President of City Council, Councilmen J. H. Walker, Sr., A. W. Brass and J.D. Brett with R. P. Fletcher, City Clerk, L. L. Conrad, Chief of Police and L. C. Tootle, Water Superintendent in attendance. Mayor Hancock stated that meeting of Council had been called for the purpose of considering the enforcement of Ordinance No. 143. After discussing the provisions of Ordinance No. 143, on Motion of Councilman . Brass, ssconded by Co~llm~ haer, Co~ll inst~ted ~e City Atto~y to pr~ I pare .an ordinance repealing Ordinance No. 143. Upon motion Council went into executive session. Council resumed open session. On motion of Councilman Brass, seconded by Councilman Brett, Council granted Chief of Fire Department W. S. A. Henderson,one week's vacation with pay and agreed to pay the relief fire- man for his' services during the absence of Cbief of Fire Department. On motion of Councilman Brass, seconded by Councilman Brett, Council a~thorized the following transfers from Water Fund to General Fund: July 21st, #50.00; July 26th, $75.00, and August 1st, $350.00. Minutes of July 2nd, 6th, and 24th were read and approved. Mr. Ellis, representative of the Florida Power & Light Company appeared before Council relative to payment of City taxes for the years 1932 and 1933 due by said company and proposed street lighting contract. I Upon motion duly seconded and passed, Council went into executive session. Council resumed open session. Ordinance No. 153 was proposed by Oounci1man Brass, who moved its adopti~, . motion seconded by Councilman Walker and passed: ORDINANCE NO. 153 AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 143, THE SAME BEING ANI ORDINANCE FOR THE VACCINATION.... REGISTERING OF DOGS..... AND THE PAYMENT OF LICENSE ETC. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE HAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA. Section One: That Ordinance number 143, passed on the 8th day of July, A. D. 1933, beand the same is hereby repealed. Section Two: That this Ordinance shall go into effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. Read a first time and by unanimous consent passed to second reading. Read a second time and by unaimous consent passed to third reading. Read a third time and passed in regular session this the 7th day of August A. D. 1934. On motion of Councilman Walker, seconded by Councilman Brett, Council author- ized the street Committee to designate the work that City prisoners shall be employ- ed at while in jail. On motion of Oouncilmw1 McOarthy, seconded by Councilman Walker, Council appointed W. S. A. Henderson as special policeman for duty around City Hall. The Building Committee made report and recommended that the buildings located on the follwoing described property be condemned: Lot 12, Bloqk E, Wright's Third Addition; Lot 9, Block 207, First Addition to Okeechobee; Lot 12, Block 13, River- side Park Addition. The City Attorney was instructed to take proper steps for con- demnation of said buildings, and make report at next regular meeting of Council. l. On motion of Councilman Walker, seconded by Councilman McOarthy, Oounci1 agreed to furnish Mrs. John Padgett, a widow, water without cost and instructed City Clerk 'to render no bill to her for water used. president Watford delivered $100.00 in cash to City Clerk, the said amount having been received from public subscriptions to apply on the purchase of a generator !or Ci ty. - Councilman Walker moved that City Clerk be authorized and directed to sign on behalf of City of Okeechobee purchase agreement for generator and other equ;pment wi th Tampa Armature Worksl Inc. for the sum of $410.00 and that he be authorized and directed to transmit ~100.00 in c~sh received from public subscriptions to Tampa Armature Works, Inc. to apply on the purchase price of generator and other equipment, motion seconded by Councilman Brett and passed. Upon motion Council adjourned to meet at the City Hall at 8.00 o'clock P. M. August 9th, 1934. pursuant to adjournment the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met at the City Hall at 8 o'clock P. M. August 9th, 1934 and the following were present: H. H. Mr. Reisch addressed Council relative to accepting land from Okeechobee Company for the construction of a municipal Airport and the construction of said Airport. Ordinance No.' 156 was proposed by Councilman Walker, who moved its adoption, motion seconded by Councilman Brass &1d passed: ORDINANCE NO. 156 AN ORDINANCE ACOEPTING DEED FROM THE OKEEOHOBEE COMPANY, A CORPORATION1 TO OERTAIN LANDS œN OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING AN AVIATION FIELD AND/OR AIRPORT AND DESIGNATINGTHE SAME AS "CONNERS' FIELD". OoID1cilman Brass moved that City Attorney be instructed to institute suit to collect delinquent taxes due on Lots 7 &1d g, Block 154, w1d that City pay him a retainer of $50.00 and 2% of amount collected, motion seconded by Councilman Walker and passed. On motion of Councilman Walker, seconded by Counpilman Brass, Council author- ized City Clerk to draw voucher for $800.00 en Gene-J::a1'und as a loan from ~.el1.e.ral Fund to c.;., cc_- ' Fund.
