Okeechobee, Florida, May 26th, 193~.
II Pursuant to call of the Mayor, the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Flor-
ida, met in special session at the City Hall at 9.00 o'clock A. M. on the above date
and the following were present: H. H. Hancock, Mayor, Alto Watford, President of City
Council, Councilmen J. D. Brett, D. B. McCarthy, J. H. Walker, Sr. and A. W. Brass
with R. P. Fletcher, City Clerk and G. C. Durrance, City Attorney in attendance.
Mayor Hancock stated that meeting of Council had been called for the purpose of
considering the offer of the Florida East Coast Railway to pay its City taxes for the
years 1932 and 1933.
Mr. D. R. McNeill, representing the Florida East Coast Railway, appeared before
4IÞ Council and presented proposition from said Company with reference to the payment of
I its City taxes for the years 1932 and 1933.
The following Resolution was offered by Councilman McCarthy, who moved its adop-
tion, motion seconded by Councilman Brass and passed:
¡ RESOLUTION
. WHEREAS, The Florida East Coast Railway is indebted to the City of Okeechobee,
Florida, for taxes as follows:
For the year 1932, the sum of - - - - - - - - - $140~.90
For the year 1933, the sum of - - - - - - - - - 994.50
and,

WHEREA~ the said Florida East Coast Railway has offered to pay cash in the
sum of $1,484.26, PROVIDED the City will accept Okeechobee City bonds for the re-
mainder, that is to say, $9l5.1~, and
WHEREAS, the said offer of said Florida East Coast Railway is in amount suffi-
cient to take care of the sums levied under the authority of certain alternative
writs of mandamus issued against said City and also to provide for the operation of
the said municipal government,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council in special session that the offer
of said Florida East Coast Railway be, and the same is hereby approved and/or accepted
and that the Clerk of said City is hereby authorized to issue to said Florida East
I Coast Railway his official tax receipt UJJ..on receipt of the sum of One Thousand Four
Hundred Eighty-four and 26/100 ($1,48~.26) Dollars in cash, and Okeechobee City Bonds
in the sum of Nine Hundred Fifteen and l~/IOO ($915.14) Dollars.
