I The City Co~ci1 of the City of Okeschobes, Florida, met in rs~ar session at the City Hall at 8.00 o'clock P. M. on the above date and the following were present: H. H. Hancock, Mayor, Alto Watford, President of City Council, Councilmen J. H. Wal- ker, A. 'W. Brass, J. D. Brett and D. B. McCarthy with R. P. Fletcher, Clerk, G. C. Durrance, City Attorney, L. L. Conrad, Chief of Police and L. C. Tootle, Water Superintendent in attendance. Minutes of meetings held March 6th, March 9th and March 14th, 1934 were read and approved. Judge T. W. Conely appeared'before Council and ,requested that Council permit Ursa Clara B. Walker to ~ay City taxes due by her with City bonds for the years that are payable with bonds and that balance of taxes due be applied in payment on amount due her on estimates for grading and ditching. Council agreed to this arrange- ment when funds are avåilable with which to make payment on estimates. The following Resolution was offered by Councilman Brett, who moved its adop- tion; motion seconded by Councilman Walker and passed: FLORIDA EMERGENCY RELIEF ADMINISTRATION PROJECT NO. 4730 CITY OF OKEECHOBEE,FLORIDA A POLITICAL SUBDIVISION RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Okeechobee, Florida, through its City Council, that the Relief Work proposed by the Okeechobee County, Florida, Emergency Relief Administration, designated as Project No. 47-30, the same being a project for streets in the City of Okeechobee, Florida, is a public project for the benefit of the gen- eral public, and not for the benefit of any private interest, and is on publicly owned property. The project embraces work that needs to be done for the general good of the ðommunity, that there are no Funds available, nor any way in which local funds may be made available with which to do this work and that unless Federal Funds are used I for this purpose the said work cannot be done at this time, nor at any time within the near future; that any liability which may arise by reason of injury to persons or damage to property in the prosecution of this work will be the liability of the Federal Emergency Relief Administration. 4IÞ Read and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Okee- chobee, Florida, this 3rd day of April, A. The following Resolution was offered by Councilman Brett, who moved its adop- tion, motion seconded by Councilman Mc~arthy and passed: RESOLUTION WHEREAS, THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY RELIEF ADMINISTRATION, bas approved Emergency Relief Project Number 47-30, the same being a project for the erection and/or con- struction of certain street lights in the City of Okeechobee, Florida, and I WHEREAS, the said City Council is of the opinion that said project is for the protectio_n of the gene real welfare of said City, and that the construction of said said street lights is a public necessity, and WHEREAS, the City Council is willing and anxious to render any service possible for the construction of said project, .. McNeill, representative of the owners òf Lots 11 and 12, Block 159, and request them to have thè'bù11dings located on said lots repairàd. The City Clerk was instructed to notify the Florida East Coast Railway and Florida Power & Light Company that the City Council will meet at 8.00 o'clock P. M. ~pril 10th, 1934 for the purpose of considering the collection of delinquent taxes. - The following Resolution was offered by Councilman Brett, who moved its adoption, motion seconded by Councilman Brass and passed: RESOLUTION ( 7) 'NliEREAS, It has been made to appear that t~e buildings on Lots seven/ and Eight (8), Block 1119, City of Okeechobee, Florida, are in a bad state of repairs, and ¥lliEREAS, upon investigation properly made, the City Council of Okeechobee, - Florida, finds that the said buildings are in such condition as to constitute a dan- gerous fire hazard a~d are a menace to the general health and safety of the citizens r' of seid City, 8.nd YïBEREAS, the owner of said buildings, to-wit: The Standard Fisheries, a Corpor- JI ation, has been properly and legally notified to 91ace said buildings in a fair state ... of rep3.irß which would render the said buildings, safe al1d Gani tary ,but that said owner has refused and still refuses so to do. - NOW THEREFOHi!:: BE IT RESOLVED, "by the Oi ty Council of Okeechobee, Florida, t~lat the buildings on the property hereinbefore described, oe and the S81lìe are hereby con- demned., as provided by statute in such cascs. Be'it Resolved, By the City Council of Okeechobee, the County of Okeechobee, ~tåte of Florida, that the Emergency Relief Administration, by its proposal for a work project for Grading of Osceola Street from Fifth Street to Old Dixie Highway is a public project for the benefit of the general public, and not for the benefit of any private interest, and the title to the property upon Which the work is to be performed is vested in the City of Okeechobee.
