BE IT RESOLVED, By the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, the County of Okeechobee State of Florida, that the Civil Works Administration, by its proposal for a work'project for street lighting system for City of Okeechobee. Work to consist of removal of 32 lamp posts, bases and cable property of City from abandon- ed sub-division and installing same, and additional posts and bases and installing same, and connecting with *~ duplex cable. Installing standard recepticâls and fixtures on all lamp posts. is a public project for the benefit of the general public, and not for the benefit of any pr~vate interest, and the title to the pro- perty upon which the work is to be performed is vested in the The City of Okeecho- bee - The project embraces work that needs to be done for the general good of the community thàt there are no appropriated public funds available, not any other way in which local public funds may be made available with which to do this work, and that unless Federal Funds are used for thèspurpose, the said work cannot be done at this time, nor at any time within the near future; that any material over and above 30% of the total cost of Project will be furnished by the City Council of Okeechobee. The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall at 7.30 o'clock P. M. on the above date and the following were present: H. H. Hancock, Mayor, Alto Watford, President of City Council, Councilmen A. W. Brass, J. D. ~rett and D. B. Mcvarthy with R. P. Fletoher, City Clerk, G. C. Durrance, City Attorney, L. L. Conrad, Chief of Police and L. C. Tootle, Water I Superintendent in attendance. Minutes of January 2nd and January 22nd,¡934 were read and approved. 4IÞ Mr. Peeples representing Florida Power & light Company, addressed Council relative to his Company supplying electric current for street lighting system. Ordinance No. 149 was proposed by Councilman MoCarthY, who moved its adoption, motion seconded by Councilman Brett and on roll call the vote was as follows: Aye~ Nays Alto Watford A. W. Brass J. D. McCarthy ORDINANCE NO. 149 AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING CERTAIN STREETS IN OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA AS ONE-WAY STREETS AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS om SAID I ORDINANCE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF OKEECHOBEE1,FLORIDA. Section 1. Kissimmee street, from first to third street is hereby designated a one-way street, South; Second street is hereby designated a onw-way street run- ning West from Parrott Ave. to Kissimmee Street. Section 2. School hours are hereby declared to be from seven thirty A. M. to four o'clock P. M. I Section 3. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency Ordinance i designed for the protection of the public school children of Okeechobee County Florida, attending the Okeechobee Public school, and the preservation of the w~lfare of the people in general. \ Section 4. Any person or persons, firm or corporation violating any provisions of this Ordinance shall be punished by fine not exceeding Twenty-five Dollars or by imprisonment in the City Jail not exceeding rifteen days. Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor. Read a first time and unanimously passed to a second reading. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Brass, Council gran- ted H. G. Culbreth permission to erßct a stucco building on Lot 11, Block 158, same to be constructed under the supervision of City building inspector. Ordinance No. 150 was proposed by Councilman Brett, who moved its adoption, motion seconded by Councilman MCCarthy and passed: ORDINANCE NO. 150 AN ORDINANOE DEFINING A NUISANCE AND PRESCRIBING A PENALTY FOR THE SAME; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR KEEPERS OF HOUSES OF ILL FAME AND FREQUENTERS OF THE SAME. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA. Sec. 1. Whoever shall maintain, own or lease any building, booth, tent or place which tends to 'annoy the community, or become manifestly injurious to the morals or manners of the people, or shall be frequented by the class of persons mentioned in section 7655 Compiled General Laws of Florida 1927, within the cor- porate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, shall be deemed quilty of a nuisance and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $100.00, or by imprisonment in the City jail not exceeding 60 days. Section 2. Whoever keeps a house of ill fame, resorttd to for the purpose of prostitution or lewdness, within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, shall upon convietion be punished by a fine not exceeding $200~00, or by imprisonment in the City Jail not exceeding 60 days. Section 3. Whoever frequents a house of ill fame as set out in Section 2 of this Ordinance shall upon conviction be punished by a fine not exceeding $25.00 or by imprisonment in the City Jail not exceeding 15 days. by a Read a first time and/unanimous consent passed to secon~reading.
