Pursuant to call of the Mayor, the City Council of the City of Okeechobee,
Florida, met in special session at the City Ha~l at 10.00 o'clock A. M. on the
above date and the following were present: H. H. Hancock, Mayor, Alto Wa,tford,
President of City Council, COill1cilmen D. B. Mc~arthy, J. D. Brett, A. W. Brass 4IÞ
and J. H. Walker,. Sr. ',vi th R. P. Fletcher, Ci ty Clerk, and L. C. Tootle, Water .

Mayor Hm1cock stated that meeting of Council had been called for the purpose
of considering the mateer of co-operating with the CWA in the construction of sanittry
privies within the City of Okeechobee.
Mr. Goodwin of Ft. Pierce addressed CoW1cil relative to the construction and
installation 0:, sanåiiary privies as approved by the State Board of Health. and he
recommended that City co-operate with CWA in the construction and installation
of same where needed. After discussing the matter it was referred to the Sanitary
Commi ttee.
The following resolution was offerèd by Councilman Brett, who moved its
adoption, motion seconded by Councilman Walker and passed:

RESOLUTION SHOWING THE NECESSITY FOR FEDERAL FUNDS FOR CIVIL WORK PROJECTS
BE IT RESOLVED, By the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, the County of ~
Okeechobee, State of Florida, that the Civil Works Administration, by its proposal ~
for a work project for clearing, cleaning and beautifying city streets is a public
project for the benefit of the general public, and not for the benefit of any private
interest, and the title to the property upon which the work is to be performed is
vested in the City of Okeechobee.
The project embraces work that needs to be done for the general good of the com-
munity, that there are no appropriated public funds available, nor any other way
in which local public funds may be made available with which to do this work, and
that unless Federal Funds are used for this purpose, the said work cannot be done at
this time, not at any time within the near future; that any material over and above
30% of the total cost of project will be furnished by the City Council of Okeechobee.
Read and adopted at a Special meeting of the City CounciJ of the City of Okeechobee
the County of Ukeechobee, State of Florida, this 22nd day of anuary, 1934-.

STREETS AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS 01 SAID
