The City Colli1cil of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall at 7.30 o'clock P. M. on the above date w1d the following were present: H. H. Hancock, Mayor, Alto Watford, President of City Oolli1cil, Councilmen J. H. Walker, Sr., J. D. Brett and A. W. Brass ~~th R. P. Fletcher, City Clerk, L. L. Conrad, Chief of police, L. O. Tootle, Water superintendent and G. C. Durrance, City Attorney in attendro1ce. Minutes of November 29th, December 5th and December 9th were read and approve~ Mr. C. H. Carter appeared before Council relative to license as automobile dealer for the years 1933 and 193~. Colli1cil agreed to require no license for the year 1933. Ordinance No. 146 was proposed by Colli1cilmro1 Walker, who moved its adoption, ~ motion seconded by Councilman Brett 8.nd passed: ORDINANCE NO. 146 ~~ ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 69 OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, THE SAME BEING AN ORDINANCE TO PRESERVE THE PUBLIC MORALS IN THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, TO PREVENT PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF SIXTEEN YEARS FROM BEING ON THE STREETS AFTER N~NE O'CLOCK AT NIGHT, AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE ENFORCE- MENT THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA. Section 1. That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 69 of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, be and the same is hereby amended to :read as follows: That the indiscriminate rlli1ning at large of children and very young persons on the streets, sidewalks, parks and other public places after night is dangerous 'to the public morsls in the City of Okeechobee, ffi1d is hereby declared to be dan- gerous to the public morals; that it is lli11awful for any person lli1der the age of sixteen years to be on the streets, sidewalks, in the parks or other public places after ten o'clock P. M. unless accompained by an adult. Section 2 - All ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. Read a first and second time by unanimous consent, and passed on third reading in regular open session this the 2nd day of JanUary, A. D. 1934. Ordinance No. 147 was proposed by Councilman Brett, who moved its adoption, motion seconded by Councilman Walker and passed: ORDINANOE NO. 147 AN ORDINANOE TO AMEND ORDINANOE NO. 73 OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, THE SAME BEING AN ORDINANCE TO PRESERVE THE PUBLIC SAFETY IN THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE~ TO PRESORIBE A SCHOOL ZONE, A SPEED LIMIT THEREIN, TO PROVIDE FOR THE EN~'ORCEMENT THEREOF. AN ORDINANCE TO PREVENT ALLOWING MINORS TO PLAY POOL OR BILLIARDS AND PRO- HIBITING THE ALLOWING OF MINORS TO VISIT PLACES WHERE POOL OR BILLIARDS ARE PLAYED AND FIXING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIEA. Section 1. That any person, firm or corporation, or any employee of such person, firm I or corporation, operating any pool or billiard parlor in the City of Okeechobee, Florida, or operating any place where pool or billiards are publicly played, who shall permit or allow ro1Y person under the age of twenty-one years to play pool or billiards or visitor loi ter in any place where pool or billiards are publicly ~ played, shall upon conviètion thereof be punished by a fine not exceeding twenty- .., five dollars or be imprisoned in the City Jail not exceeding thirty days, or by both such fine ~1d imprisonment at the discretion of the Court. Sect ion 2. All Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 3. This Ordinffi1ce shall take effect upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. Pursuant to call of the Mayor, the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in special session at the City Hall at 10.00 o'clock A. M. on the above date and the following were present: H. H. Hancock, Mayor, Alto Wa_tford, President of City Council, Coilllcilmen D. B. Mcvarthy, J. D. Brett, A. W. Brass and J. H. Walker, - Sr. with R. P. Fletcher, City Clerk, and L. C. Tootle, Water Superintendent in attendrolce. Mayor Hro1cock stated that meeting of Council had been called for the purpose of considering the mateer of co-operating with the CWA in the construction of sanittry privies within the City of Okeechobee. Mr. Goodwin of Ft. Pierce addressed Council relative to the construction and installation 0: -sanit'tiary privies as approved by the state Boa:t'd of Health; and he recommended that City co-operate with CWA in the construction and installation of same where needed. After discussing the matter it was referred to the Sanjtary Commi ttee. The following resolution was offerèd by Councilman Brett, who moved its adoption, motion seconded by Councilman Walker and passed: CIVIL WPRKS ADMINISTRATION Okeechobee County City of Okeechobee FERA 112 Project Number Political Sub-Division RESOLUTION SHOWING THE NECESSITY FOR FEDERAL FUNDS FOR CIVIL WORK PROJECTS BE IT RESOLVED, By the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, the County of Okeechobee, State of Florida, that the Civil Works Administration, by its proposal for a work project for clearing, cleaning and beautifying city streets is a public project for the benefit of the general public, and not for the benefit of any private interest, and the title to the property upon which the work is to be performed is vested in the City of Okeechobee. The project embraces work that needs to be done for the general good of the com- munity, that there are no appropriated public funds available, nor any other way in which local public funds may be made available with which to do this work, and that unless Federal Funds are used for this purpose, the said work cannot be done at tþis time, not at any time within the near future; that any material over and above 30~ of the total cost of project will be furnished by the City Council of Okeechobee.
