City Hall in the City of Okeechobee, Florida, Which said notice Shall describe the
dog and give name of owner, if known. If such dog shall not be redeemed within flve days
said Pound Master or Chief of Police Shall cause the same to be killed or sold.
All funds or monies from the sale of said dogs as provided herein, shall be depos-
ited by the Pound Master or Chief of Police in the General Funds of said City.
: SEOTION 9. In order to redeem any dog which may -have been impounded under the
provisions of this Ordinance, the owner or ke~er of said dog so impounded shall
pay to the Pound Master the sum of Fifty (50~) Cents and a further fee of fifteen
(l!)tþ) Cents per day for each and every day it shall have been impounded; PROVIDED
. HOWEVER that if any dog is impounded without having a proVer collar and license
tag Showing that it has been lioensed and vaccinated as provided herein, the owner
or keeper of such -dog shall comply with the provi sions 'of thi s Ordinance with refer-
ence to license tag and vaccination of said clog, before such dog shall be surrendered
to him.
SEOTION l(}. If any dog running at large is not securely muzzled or is not pro-
vided with a proper collar and license tag and other distibctive tag showing vacci-
nation wi thin the preceding twelve months and if such dog cannot be safely taken up
and impounded, such dog may be killed by the Pound Master, by any police officer or
dog catcher.
SEOTION 11. No person shall in any manner interfere with, prevent or hinder
any officer or person herein mentioned in the p~rformance of any duty required by
thi s Ordinance and no person not being the owner ot possessor of such dog shall re-
move or take off or cause to be removed or taken off the collar or license .ag or
other distinctive tag showing vaccination of any dog within said 01ty.
SEOTION 12. Any person or persons violating or failing, neglecting or refusing
to comply with the provisions and requirements of this Ordinance, shall be punished
by a fine not exceeding $5.00 or by imprisonment not exceeding five days or by
both such fine and imprisonment. For each and every offense each day on which such
person shall violate, fail neglect or refuse to comply with the provisions and re-
quirements of this Ordinance shall be and constitute a separate offense.
SEOTION 13. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict her.-.1th are hereby
repealed.
SEOTION 14. This Ordinance is hereby declared an emergency Ordinance .necessary
for the immediate preservation of public peace, property, health and safety and shall
take effect July ð, l:r:Ð. 1933.

The .Oity Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at
the Oi ty Hall at g 0 I clock P. M. on the above date and the follow1n,g were present:
J. Denham Bird, Mayor, Alto Watford, President of City Council, Councilmen A. W.
Brass, J. H. Walker, Sr. and D. B. KcOarthy with R. P. Fletcher, City Clerk, L. L.
Oonrad., Chief of polioe, G. O. Durrance, Oity Attorney and L. o. Tootle, Water
Superintendent in attendance.
Minutes of meeting held July 6th, 1933 were read and approve~
Mayor Bird presented communications from the Florida Immergency Relief Admin-
istration and the Ft. Myers Chamber of Commerce. .
The foll8W1ng resolution was offered by Councilman Walker, Who moved its
adoption, motion seconded by Councilman McgarthY and passed: 1
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, it has been called to the attention of the City Ooun~il of the City
of Okeechobee, Florida, that a Cross-State Ship Oanal through Florida is being
considered by the Army Engineerl s Board, and that in all probability a Oross-
state Ship Oanal will be constructed across the State of Florida at some point to
be designated and/or agreed upon by said Board, and
WHEREAS, the said Oity Council has carefully consldered the v~rious routes
Which are being presented for consideration by the various interests of the State
of Florida, and ~,I
WHEREAS, the said Oi ty Council is informed that the most practical route, con-
sidered in the light of distance and expense, is the route which has often been
recommended, that is to say, the Stuart-Lake Okeechobee-Oaloosahatohee Route.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Okeechobee, Florida, thatthe I'
said Board of Army JCnglneers is urgently requested to give careful consideration
to à.a.tis commonly known as the Southern Route hereinbefore set out. '.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE City Council of Okeechobee, Florida that a copy
of this resolutlon be mailed to each United states Senator and Oongressman from
the State of Florida and to the War Department at Washington.
