1932-01-05 Regular 367 I' --- I II Okeechobee, Florida, January 5th, 1932. The 01 ty Oouncil of the Oi ty of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular ses- sion at the Oi ty Hall at 7.30 o' clock P. K. on the above date and the following were present: J. Denham Bird, Kayor, Al to Watford, President of City Council, ;i Oouncilme.. Ben Walker, J. H. Walker, Sr., Albert Berka and D. B. KoCarthy with R. P. 'letcher, City Olerk, L. L. Conrad, Chief of Police and L. O. Tootle, Water Superinteadent in attendance. K1nu.es of meetings held November 27th and December 1st, 1931 were read and approved. Oouneilman McCarthy moved that Oouncil appoint L. C. Tootle Milk Inspector - fGrthe City of Okeechobee, motion seconded by Councilman Berka and passed. On motion of Councilman Berka, seconded by Councilman Ben Walker, Council Þ-.., agreed to pay for street light at corner of Peoples Bank building. Oommmication was received from Judge J. E. Conrad, Chief of Police in attendance. I Mayor Bird stated that purpose of special meeting was to consider a resolution relative to taxes due for the years 1930 and 1931 by the Florida Western & Northern . Railway. -'" 'Dba fQllo1l1ng..reSGlut10n,:was off&rë4',:,by Councilman Berka, who moved its adop- tion, motion seconded by Councilman McCarthy and carried: RESOLUTION WHERlAS, the Florida Western and Northern Railway Company is indebted to the City of Okeechobee for taxes for the years 1930-31 amounting to $2159.64 and to ~ the State of Florida and County of Okeechobee in the sum of $29,709.7g and, WHERIAS, said Railway Company is leased by the Seaboard Air Line Railway Com- p any, and WHERIAS, both the Seaboard Air Line Railway and Florida Western and Northern Railway Companies have been placed in the hands of Recei1vers, and , it has been made to appear to this Council that it is doubtful that 'the Court, which gas juris- diction ot said Receiverships. will order a sale of the property and assets of said Florida Western and Northern Railway Company until the receivership has been ..áo..- 1..
