M. and the following were present: J. D. Bird, !-- Mayor, H. L. Chandler, President of City Council, Councilm~ñ ~eh Walker, S. R. Raifsnider, Albèrt Berka a,nd J. H. Walker, Sr., with R. P. Fletcher, City Clerk, . L. W. Jennings, City Attorney, L. C. Tootle, Water Superintendent, and Lon Stewart, Chief of Police in attendance. Minutes of Meetings held December 3rd and December 13th, 1929 were read and approved. Mr. William Griffis addres8ed Council and suggested that Council pass resolutio , relative to type of dites and levees to be built around Lake Okeechobee under pro- ~ posed flood control bills now pending in Congress. The matter was referred to the . " ~ LaW8 and Rules Committee. ' , Councilman Berka suggested that Council preparè' resolution relative to passage I . ¡-- Ii 'I of air ship over Okeechobee on January 29th and send same to Miami Chamber of I: I" '"" Oom.'llerce. The matter was referred to Laws and Rules Committee., II The matter of erecting advertising signs within the inner fire zone was referref II \. to the Building Oommi tt ee. ~ On motion of Councilman Ben Walke~, seconded by Councilman Raifsnider, Council II .' I ! ! I authorized the renewal of fire insurances policies on Oi ty Hall to the amount, of i '" . I $30,000.00. I I . I On motion of Councilman Berka, seconded by Councilman Ben Walker; Council ¡ , i : authorized the pay:nent of bill each month for street right on corner of South I ¡, , , , I Park and Osceola Streets. I I The matter of building for golf course office was referred to Building Committe. . i On motion of Councilman-Raifsnider, seconded by Councilman Ben Walker, councill authorized -purchase of paint for pa.inting pa,rkj,ng lines on streets. ! ¥ ìl Councilman Ben Walker moved that City "Ourchase gasoline and oil during year 11 ~ ì 1930 from Pan American Petroleum Corporation, motion seconded by Councilman Berka Ii ¡. and carried. Chief of II 'i Police for the bålance of the unexpired term ending January 5th, 1931, motion :1 II seconded by Councilman Ben Walker and oarried. II .
