D. Bird, Mayor, H. L. Chandler, Pres- ident. of. City Oounci~, Councilmen J. H. Walker, Sr., Albert Berka and S. R. Raif- snider, with R. P. Fletßher, City C1erk, L. W. Jennings, City Attorney, L.. C., Tootle, Water Superintendent ,and Lon Stewart, Chief of.Po¡ice in attendance. Councilman Berk$ moved that Okeechobee News, a newsp~per published at Okeecho- bee, Florida, be des¡gnated by City Council as the newspaper to advertise the City, tax sales for the years 1927 and 1928, motion seconded by Councilman Raifsnider and -- carried. ~ Councilman Raif.,.ider moved that Council adopt the following budget as the budget of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, for the year 1930, motion seconded by Councilman Berka and carried: BUDGE'!! I II i Section 1.That the City of Okeechobee, Florida, hereby levies a tax of six- I 1 .-- ' II I I teen (16)~mtlls on each dollar valuation of real and personal pro perty wi thin the I , l Ii I corporat.e limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, subj ect to taxation on the II ¡ 'I II - n first day of January A. D. 1929. Such tax shall be assessed and collected in the Ii II ,! manner provided by law. II Section 2. WHEREAS, its affiliation with National Broadcasting Company provides us with infçrmation and ent ertaimment of high order and benefit, 'and -- WHEREAS, its cu8tom of giving adequate storm warnings and informationduring the. equinoctioal periods is of \m.told value to our people, and l , : WHEREAS, we are advised that certian changes contemplated by the Federal Radio Commission with referebce to this station will decrease its time,Rower and fre- quency, now therefore BE ,IT RESOLVED 'by the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, :that the Federal Radio Commission be and the same is hereby most respectfully and urguen- I tly peti t1oned not to make any change in the status of Stati~n WIOD aforesaid, but that it be permitted to continue with full time ~OOO Watt po~er ,and present frequency, H.
