The. City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular. session:
in the City Jall at 7.30 0' clock P. M. and the follning were present: J. D. Bird, :;

Mayor, H. L. Chandler, President of Council, Councilmen Ben Walker, S. R. Raifsnider~
and Albert Berka with R. P. Fle~cher, City Clerk, L. I. Jennings, City Attorney,
Lon stewart, Chief of Police and L. C. Too'le, Water Superintendent in attendance.
Minutes of meeting held September 11th, 1929 were read and approved.
Mr. Nathan Zelmenovitz addressed the Council with reference to the passage of
an ordinance providing for the payment of a license by dealers in furs, hides and
junk.
,-- Mr. Peter Tomasello, Jr. addressed Council-in behUf of Mr. Alto Watford as
the successor to former Councilman Don P. Johnston.
~, On motion of Councilman Walker, seconded by Councilman Berka, Council went
into executive session.
Council resumed open session.
Councilman Raifsnider moved that Council elect a successor to former Councilman
Don P. Johnston, motion seconded by Councilman Berka and carried.
The vote was taken by ballot and was as follows:
J. H. Walker, Sr.received three votes
Alto Watford received one vote.
J. H. Walker, Sr. was declared elected to serve the unexpired term of former
Oouncilman Dcm P. Johnston.
On motion of Councilman Berka, seconded by Councilman Walker, Council cancelled
voucher 14034 drawn on the General Fund and dated September 14th, 1929 for $11.25
in favor of Inter County Tel. & Tel. Co., same having been lost.
- On motion of Councilman Raifsnider, seconded by Councilman Berka, Oouncilin-
structed the City Attorney ~ prepare an ordinance providing for the payment of a
- license of $25.00 by dealers in furs, hides and junk for the remainder of tþ.e~year I
1929 and $50.00 for each year thereafter and that no half year license be issued. I
Upon motion Council adjourned-to meet at 3 o'clock P. M. October 4th, 1929.

Pursuant to adjournment the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida,
met in the City Hall at 3. oJ clock P. M. and the following were present:J. D. Bird,
Mayor, H. L. Chandler, President of City Council, Councilmen Albert Berka, S. R.
Raifsnider, Ben Walker and Councilman-elect J. H. Walker, Sr. with R. P. Eletcher,
Clerk, L. W. Jennings, City Attorney and Lon Stewart, Chief of Police in attendance.
L. W. Jennings,a notary public, administered the oath of office to J. H. Watker~
Sr. to serve as Councilman of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, for the remainder of !
