On motion of Councilman Raifsnider, seconded by Councilman Berka, Councilman
Chandler was elected temporary president pro-tem of Council during the absence of II
preident pro-tem Walker. from the City.
On motion of Councilman Raifsnider, seconded by Councilman Chandler, Council
approved transfer of $100.00 from Water Fund to General Fund on July 2~th, 1929.

Pursuant to call of the Mayor, the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, ii
Florida, met in special session in the City Hall at 8 o'clock p. m. and the follow-
ing were present: J. D. Bird, Mayor, Counci188n H. L. Chandler, S. R. Raifsnider
and Albert Berka with R. P. Fletcher, Clerk, L. C. Tootle, Water Superintendent,
L. W. Jennings, City Attorney and Lon stewart, Chief of Police in attendance.
President Johnston being absent, Councilman Chandler, temporary President
pro-tempresided.
Mayor Bird stated that meeting of Counci~ h\d been called for the' purpose of
transacting regular monthly business as counc~a1led to meet on regular meeting
date.

Minutes of meeting held August 6th, 1929 were read and approved.
Mr. Ben Fox appeared be~ore Council ,and requested permission to build a frame
and stucco dwelling on Lot 11, Block 155.
Councilman Berka moved that Building Inspector be authorized to issue building
and
permit to Ben Fox to ereèt a frame stucco dwelling, plastered inside/with approved.

Mr. D. R. McNeill appeared before Council relative to deposits of City of Okee-
chobee in Peoples Bank of Okeechobee.

or hereinafter provided shall be construed to surrender, waive or yield an, legal ~
rights that said City may have to liquidate or negotiate said securities in such
manner as provided or allowed by law, and this agreement is intended only to cover
any deficiency remaining on deposit in said bank to the c1redit of said City when
and after such securities mayor shall have been liquidateò. or negotiated as afore-
said.

On motion of Oouncilman Berka, seconded by Councilman Raifsnider, Council

authorized Apte Bros. to fix Orange Avenue in a passable condition under s1.tJ:¡)ervision
of street superintendent, cost of same to be applied on amount due City for 1928

taxes by them.
Mr. E. W. Smith appeared before Council with reference to street lighting oon-
. tract, and after discussing the matter same was referred to Light Committee.
Resignation of Don P. Johnston as a member of the City Council of the City of
Okeechobee was received and read.

Councilman Raifsnider nominated Councilman H. L. Chandler for President of Cit~
Council, nomination was seconded by Councilman Berka and upon vote.being taken
Councilman H. L. Chandler was elected President of City Council of the City of Okee-!
chobee, Florida..
Councilman Chandler having been Chairman of Finance Committee prior to hi,
election as Pr~sident of City Council,and upon his said election the Chairmanship ~
of said Committee became vacant, whereupon President Chandler appointed CoUl)cilman
Berka as Chairman of Finance Committee. -
The following resolution was offered by Councilman Berka, who moved its adop-
tion, motion seconded by Councilman Raifsnider and carried:

Resolved that all vouchers or other orders for the withdrawal of money.be
signed by the following City officers: H. L. Chandler, President of c~ty.Co~cil or
Ben Walker, President Pro-tern of City Council; _Albert Berka, Chairman of Finance
Committee and R. P. Fletcher, City Clerk.
Communication was received from Mrs. Susan B. Crozier and Miss Rachel Crozier ~
