Dr. C. R. Bibb appeared before Council and requested that Council extend water;
main to his residence. After some discussion the matter was referred to the Water -¡-

Mr. F. E. Lawrence appeared before Council relative to extension of sewer main

to Block 178.
Mr. P. Tomasello, J~. addressed Council with reference to location of head-
quarters of Flood Control Board at Okeechobee.
~ The following resolution was offered by Councilman Berka, who moved its adop-
tion, ~otion seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried¡ 11
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Florida, at its regular lession, A. D.
1929, did create the Everglades Flood Control District, and provided therein for thei '~
appointment of a Flood Control Board of said District; and

WHEREAS, the enact,emt provides that the Commissioners of the Everglades Flood; I
Control District shall select and designate the headquarters for said Board at an
early date, said headquarters to be located wi thin the Flood Control District as
created; and
WHEREAS, the C1 ty of Okeechobee, Florida is located at a point on Lake Okeecho-
bee easily accessible to the construction work to be done and performed; and
WHEREAS, the said City of Okeech?bee, Flor~da, has adequate office. space and
housing facilities for said headquarters and its attendant agencies, as well as an
excellent water supply and system, and fully accredited High School and adequate
s~hool plant.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council oftthe Oi ty of Okeechobee,
Florida, at its regular meeting held on the 6th day of Aug¡1at, A. D. 1929, that the
Commissioners of the Everglades Flood Control District be, and they are hereby

invi ted, solici ted, ~ged and requested to establish their headquarters in and at i
the City of Okeechobee, Florida; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florid~, -
does hereby pledge its full and hearty co-operation in the premises.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of' the Ci ty Council of the City of Okee-
chobee,Florida, be, and is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution
to Hon. Doyle E. Carlton, Chairman, Board of Commissioners Everglades Flood Control
Di strict.

Pursuant to call of the Mayor, the City Council of the City of Okeechobee,
Florida, met in special session in the City Hall at 8 o'clock p. m. and the follow-
ing were present: J. D. Bird, Mayor, Counci188n H. L. Chandler, S. R. Raifsnider
and Albert Berka with R. P. Fletcher, Clerk, L. C. Tootle, Water Superintendent,
L. W. Jennings, City Attorney and Lon Stewart, Chief of Police in attendance.
President Johnston being absent, Councilman Chandler, temporary President
pro-tem presided.
Mayor Bird stated that meeting of CounCi~h\d been called for the'purpose of
transacting regular monthly business as counc~iled to meet on regular meeting
date.

Mr. Ben Fox appeared before Council ,and requested permission to build a frame
and stucco dwelling on Lot 11, Block 155.
Councilman Berka moved that Building Inspector be authorized to issue building

composition roof/on Lot 11, Block 155, motion seconded by Councilman Raifsnider and
carried.
Mr. D. R. McNeill appeared before Council relative to deposits of City of Okee-
chobee in Peoples Bank of Okeechobee.
On motion of Councilm'an Raifsnider, seconded by Councilman Berka, Council authot-

of Okeeohobee and City of Okeechobee with reference to deposits of City of Okeecho-
bee in said Bank, provided the following paragraph is added to said agreement and
