The City Council of the City ofOkeechobee, Florida, met in regular session in
the City Hall at g o~clock P. M. ~d the following were preaent: J. D. Bird, Mayor,
Councilmen Ben Walker, Albert Berka, H. L. Chandler and S. R. Raifsnider with R. P.
Fletcher, City Clerk, L. C. Tootle, Water Superintendent, L. W. Jennings, City Attor.

Minutes of. meetings held June 4th, June 7th and June loth, 1929 were :!read. and
approved.
The matter of installing culvert in drainage ditch on Eighth Street in front of
Methodist Church was referred to street Committee. .

The matter of street light on corner of Osceola and South Park streets in front I
of Peoples Bank was referred to Light Commi ttee.-

On motion of Cpunçilman Chandler, seconded by Oouncilman.R~fsnider, Oouncil
went into executive 8ession.
Council restmed open session.
Councilman Raifenider moved that Council elect a Chief of Police for a term of
- six months beginning July 1st, 1929 and ending December 31st, 1929, motion seconded

by Councilman Berka and carried. i
The vote for Chief of Polioe was taken by ballot and was as follows:
Lon stewart received three votes
Lee Brewer received one vote.
Lon Stewart was declared ele~tèd Chief of Police for a term of six months be-
ginning July 1st, 1929 and ending December 31st, 1929; whereupon Lon Stewart being
present agreed to acoept said office for the term of six months.

Mr. P. Tomasello, Jr. addressed Council and stated that state Road- Departmem II
has agreed to rebuild state Road IS from Taylor Creek to East City limits, and ta1lell
over and maintain said road from East to West City limits.
The Laws & Rules Committe and City Attorney were authorized to prepare nec8..~
ordinances in connection with submitting new City Charter to voters of City.
On mot1~n of Councilman Raifsnider, seconded by Councilman Berka, Council
authorized payment to Snedegar & Baya the sum of $ for incidental expenses
incurred in connection with trial of suit of Union Indemnity Company Vs. Oityof
.>-' Okeechobee.
Oouncilrlan Berka moved that Council furnish labor when funds are available to

Block 17ð, provided F. E. Lawrence furnishes all material required for laying said i
sewer, motion seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried.
On motion of Councilman Chandler, seconded by Councilman Berka, Council author~
ized Clerk to cancel voucher 13968 dated June 1, 1929, drawn on General Fund in theii
s1In of .25.00 and payable to Don P. Johnston.
Councilman Berka moved that President Pro-tern and City Clerk be authorized
to execute quit claim deed for the purpose of conveying the following described
land to lirs, Ida E, Chandler, motion seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried:
The West 30 acres of the Northwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter, except-
ing a ten acre strip on the North side of said tract, said strip of land as
excepted aforesaid running and extending from the West boundary to the East
bounda.ry of saild tract, lying and being in Section Twenty-eight, Tewnship
Thirty-seven South, Range Thirty-five East.
Upon motion duly seconded and carried, Council adjourned.
