Johnston, President of Oi ty Council, Oouncilmen S. R. Raifsnider, i, I: Albert Berka, H. L. Chandler and Ben Walker, with R. P. Fletcher Clerk, L. W. II Minutes of meetings held April 16th and April 27th, 1929 were read and approv-II II 'I e~ I :1 Mr. J. D., Brett appeared before Council and requested permission to erect a !I - sign in Flagler Park, and after discussing the matter same was referred to the Park II II Oommi ttee. Ii ~- q Ii Mr. L. B. Vernon, representing the Western Union Telegraph Oompany, appeared :¡ 'I before Council in regard to ,pròposed telegraph line from Florida 'East Coast R~l- ¡f way station to Singer building on Lot 6, Block 168. I Councilman R.~i:fsni(lar -moved that Oo'-.t;1oil grant Western Union Telegraph Company II 'i permission to run a telegraph line in alley between Sixth and Seventh street; from II Florida East Coast Railway Company station to Miami S:bree1i and thence run Koth wi thi, ,I I cable in said street to Singer building on Lot 6, Block 16g, provided said Company :1 ,I secures permission from Okeechobee Company to rum its lines in said street and I' i alley, motion seconded by Oouncilman .erka and carried. , The Street Oommi~tee was requested to take up with Okeechobee Company the ~,A - '! matter of securing the revocation by said Company of its dedicated rights and pri- il vileges to the streets and alleys of the 2~ty of Okeechobee. i, I' !I The Cemetery Committee was requested to make report on price to be charged for!1 I! I lots in City Cemetery. II Mayor Bird reported to Oouncil that Charley Raulerson wiShes to conduct classe~' - J in life saving at E. M. Meserve' s bathing pool and requested Oouncil to fix rate Ii II for water used in said pool. The matta.r was referred to the Water Oommi ttee. :1 Ii ~ - 'I On motion of Oounoilman Berka, seconded by Oouncilman Councilman --a.ifsnider, ': Council authorized payment of $19g.75 to c. F. WaJ.ker on account. Said amount to be Ii " Ii applied in payment of his 1928 City taxes. ¡i Oounoilman Raifsnider moved that Council allow Fire Chief one-half dayX1(III"', Ii , Ii relief from duty each week d}lring the months of May, June, July and August in lieu II H of regular vacation, and that City pay substitute fireman on duty during his ~ absence, motion seconded by Oouncilman Berka and carried. ii ¡j II On motion of Councilman Raifsnider, seconded by Councilman Berka, Council ii II :1 authorized Water Superintendent and City Clerk to purchase one car rock and one II car sand asphalt for repairing streets, I ~ Councilman Berka moved that beginning with th'e month of May 1929 and until 1-::', I further notice that City Oouncil meet in regular session once each month and that said meeting be held on the first Tuesday night in each month, motion seconded by .1 . . r 274 i Counoilman Chandler and oarri ed. ,I ! Tootle, Water Superintendent in attendance. ,- President Johnston being absent, Councilman Walker, President pro-tam presided. Minutes of meeting held May 7jh, 1929 were read and approved. \ The schedule of prices of lots in City cemetery was presented to Council by Cemetery Committee, and on motion of Councilman Raifsnider, seconded by Councilman Berka, Oouncil approyed said schedule and ordered same to be filed in the City Oerk', office. Oouncilman Berka moved that all money obtained from sale of cemetery ltts be deposited in Cemetery fund and used for upkeep of City Cemetery, motion seconded by Councilman Raifsnide~ and carried. The Water Committee presented a report on rate for water for E. K. Meserve's bathing pool and recommended a rate of 20; p~r thousand gallons for said pool. Oouncilman Raifanider moved that City turn over aerating basin at old water ~. . : plant to Red Cross for use as a bathing pool Until such time as City may require saae for municipal pvpposes, provided said pool is maintained without expense to -. City, motion seconded by Councilman Berka an~ carried. On motion of Councilman Raifsnider, seconded by OöW1.Qllman lUirta.~<.b.è Strttaif Superintendent was authorized to purchase lumber for repairing railroad. crossings and bridges. On motion of Councilman Raifsnider, seconded by Councilman Berka, Council authorized payment of bill of L. W. Jennings in the sum of $125.00 for attorney's fee in connection with oolleotion of City taxes in bankruptcy case of J. Mulberg. On motion of Councilman Chandler, seconded by Oounoilman Berka, Oouncil author- zed return to Sewer Bond F~d #24 the sum of $800.00 by Interest & Si8king W'a.terwork~ l Extension Bond Fund f2O. ,- On motion of Oo'Wlcilman Chandler, seconded by Councilman Berka, Oouncil author- ized payment of $1,000.00 to O.
