Pursuant to call of the Mayor, the City Oouncil of the City of Okeechobee, ~ Florida, met in special session in the Oi ty Hall at g 0 I clock P. M. and the follow- ~' ing were present: J. D. Bird, Mayor, Don P. Johnston, President of City Council, Oouncilmen S. R. Raif.n1der, Ben Walker, H. L. Chandler and Albert Berka with R. P. Fletcher, 01erk and L. W. Jennings, City Attorney in attendance. Mayor Bird stated that meeting of Council had been called for the purpose of considering the matter of providing for the inspection of fruits and vegetables transported into the City of Okeechobee. Ordinance No. 124 was proposed by Councilman Walker who moved its adoption, motion seconded by Councilman Berka, and upon the roll being called the following - voted: 1 Ayes: Nays: I Don P. Raifsnider ORDIBANOE NO.!È... -All ORDINANOE PROHIBITING THE POSSESSION, KEEPING, STORAGE AND/OR 'l'RANS& PORTATION or OERTAIN INFEOTED AND/OR INFEOTIOUS FRUIT OR VEGETABLES IN THE CITY OF OKEEOHOBEE; AND PROVIDING FOR THE INSPEOTION OF, SAME AND THE DESTRUOTION THEREOF IF FOUND TO BE INFEOTED WITH DANGEROUS AND/OR OBNOx.- IOUS DISEASES, GERMS OR IHSEOTSi AND DEOLARING SUCH INFEOTED OR INFEOTIOUS FRUITS OR VlGETABLES WITHIN SAID CITY TO BE AND OONSTITUTE A NUISANOE. BE IT ENAOTED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNOIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE: Section 1. It Shall be un~awful for any person, firm, association or corporation to possess~ keep aIldjor store wi thin the City of Okeechobee or to transport through said City any fruit or vegetables known or found to be åI~ected with'ant infectious disease or invested with any infectious or obnoxious germ or insect, whereby such 1 infection or disease may be sPread òr communicated to other fruits or vegetables in - --- said City o~ territory contiguous ~hereto. Section 2. The offic~ of City Fruit and Vegetable Inspector is hereby created and the City Oouncil shall appoint some suita~le person to fill such office. Any person, firm, association or corporation who shall fail or ¡i reful\e to permit any fruit or vegetables in the City of Okeeohobee' to be inspeo- II - ted by the Oi ty Fnüt and Vegetable Inspector shall, upon convction thereof, be J II /- puni shed as provided for in Section 3 hereof. Thi s Ordinance shall in no wi se affect ór repeal any former j I or existing ordinance on the subject, but shall be taken ås cumulative and in Ii [, addi tion to any other ordinance, rule or regulation on the "subject. i Section 7.
