2022-01-04 Ex 01Exhibit 1 01 /04/2022 RESOLUTION NO. 2022-01 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA; ADOPTING THE FINAL REVISED OKEECHOBEE COUNTY 2021 LOCAL MITIGATION STRATEGY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) requires that all Hazard Mitigation Plans must be reviewed and updated as appropriate and resubmitted to FEMA and FDEM for review and approval every five (5) years; and, WHEREAS, the Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) is a repository for all hazard mitigation analyses, policies, programs, and projects for Okeechobee County (the County) and the City of Okeechobee (the City) due to its multi - jurisdictional and intergovernmental nature. The LMS identifies hazard mitigation needs in a community and structural or non-structural initiatives that can be employed to reduce community vulnerability; and WHEREAS, this is an updated version of the original County Local Mitigation Strategy that was drafted and adopted by County Resolution in 2016; and WHEREAS, the County Local Mitigation Working Group has completed the County 2021 LMS, which has been reviewed and found to be compliant with Federal and State standards by the FEMA and the FDEM. Therefore, the LMS is now ready for consideration and approval by the City. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved before the City Council; presented at a duly advertised public meeting; and passed by majority vote of the City Council, as follows: 1. The Final Revised LMS is adopted by the County Commission as the official document for inclusion in the Statewide Hazard Mitigation Strategy. 2. The Final Revised County LMS is formally approved by the City Council for the City of Okeechobee. 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
