Pursuant to adjournment the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, ~
met- in the City Hall at 7.00 o'clock P. M. for the purpose of levying the millage J
for-the 1928 City tax assessment roll and the following were present: Don P. John-
ston, President of City Council, Councilmen Ben Walker and H. L. Chandler with R. P.:
Fletcher, City Clerk, L. W. Jennings, City Attorney and L. C. Tootle, Water Superin-
tenaent in attendance.
: Ordinance No. 122 was proposed by Councilman Walker who moved its adoption,
motion seconded by Councilman Chandler and upon roll call the vote was as follows:

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF TAXES
FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, FOR THE YEAR 1928. ,-
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND 1HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEI~
;., FLORIDA:
Section I. That the City of Okeechobee, Florida, hereby levies a tax of twenty~:
fi vè (25) mills on each dollar valuation of real and personal property wi thin the
corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, subject to taxation on the
fir~t day of January A. D. 1928. Such tax shall be assessed and collect'ed in the m~

ner provided by law. .

Section 2. That seven (7) mills of such tax shall be used for general Oi ty '!

purposes; tha~ one (1) mill of such tax shall be used for fire protection; that

issue of 1920; that one (1) mill of such tax shall be used for the interest and ~

. that three and one-half (3i) mills of such tax shall be used for the interest and

sinking bond fund, issue of 1924; that two and one-half (21-) mills of suc~ tax
shall be used for the interest and sinking water-works extension bond fund, issue
of 1925; that five (5) mills of such tax shall be used for the interest and sink-
ing,bond fund, issue of 1926; that one (1) mill of such tax shall be used for the
interest and sinking bond fund, issue of 1927; that one and one-half (It) mills

of ~uch tax shall be used for the interest and sinking refunding bond fund, issue
of 1928.

It shall be the duty of the City Tax Collector and the City Clerk to divide thel
proceeds received from said taxes into various funds as set out in the preceeding ~ I

sec~ion and keep account thereof as may be directed by the City counCil.~' i
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon
its ,passage and approval by the Mayor.
