' The Clty Council of the City of Okeechobee, Flori da, met in regular. session
in the City Hall at 7.30 o'clock P. M. and the following were present: J. Denham
Bird, Mayor, Don P. Johnston, President of City Council, Councilmen Ben Walker,
H. L. Chandler and H. H. Hancock with R. P. Fletcher, City Clerk, Lon Stewart, I
Chief of Police, L. W. Jennings, City Attorney and L.. C. Tootle, Water Superinten-
dent in attendance.
Minutes of meeting held October 2nd, 1928 were read and approved.. I
Councilman Walker moved that F. O. Collins be granted truck farming privileg-
es in City park north of Freedman Building, subject to approval of Okeechobee

Company, said farming to be under supervision of Park Oommi ttee and no water to !
be furnished by City free of cost, motion seconded by Councilman Hancock and

carried. I
Mr. C. A. Daugherty appeared before Council relative to street lighting I
contract. .
Councilman Hancock moved that the Mayor and President of Oi ty Council be
authorized to sign all pleadings in connection with suit of Union, Indemnity Com-
pany Vs. City of Okeechobee and that the City Clerk be authorized to attest the
same, motion seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried. I
Councilman Walker moved that the City Clerk be authorized to allow the redemp-I

tion of Oi ty tax certificates and payment of subsequent omitted taxes due. on same II

without interest for a period of thirty days from date, motion seconded by Coun- !
cilman Hancock and carried.

Councilman Hancock moved that sanitary department be instructed to haul I
nQthing but garbage and that sanitary inspector be instructed to require citizens Iii I
-- to keep their premises in sanitary condition and 1Þm0ve dry rubbish. I
Upon motion duly seconded and carried, Oouncil adjourned to meet at 3 o' clock II
