Rev. R. L. Mixon appeared before Council and requested Council to exempt City I

~ taxes for the year 1927 on Lots I and 2, Block 40, First Addition to South Okeecho-I

bee, as said lots are now owned by Church of God. i
- Councilman Hancock moved that Council authorize Oi ty Tax Collector to exempt I
City taxes for the year 1927 on Lots 1 and 2, Block 40, First Addition to South
Okeechobee, motion seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried.

Mayor Bird recommended that street light at intersection of Miami and Second I I
Streets, South Okeechobee be moved to intersection of Third Street and Parrott Ii .

Councilman Walker moved that Council authorize Florida Power & Light Company

The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular seseion in!
the City Hall at 7.30 o'clock P. M. and the following. were present: J. Derulam Bird, ~'
Mayor, Isaiah Casey, President of City Council, Councilmen H. H. Hancock, H. L.
Chandler, Don P. Johnston and Ben Walker with R. P. Fletcher, City Clerk, Lo~ -,
stewart, Chief' of Police, L. C. Tootle, Water Superintendent and L. W. Jennings,
City Attorney in attendance.
Minutes of meeting held September 4th, 1928 were read and approved.
Mrs. J. N. Wilson, Jr. and Miss Jo Parrish appeared before Council and reques-
ted Council to have band stand removed from Flagler Park.
Councilm~ Johnston moved that Council cond~mn ,band stand and have same remov-
ed ~rom Flagler Par~ ~d that Chief of Police be instructed to dispose of same,
motion seconded by Councilman Wal~er ,and carried.
Mr. C. A. Da~gh~rty, representing the Florida Power,& ~ight CompànY, appeared
before Council and presented a~ten ~ye~:.j¡treet lighting contI:act. Council deferred
action on sam~ until further consideration.
Councilman Hancock moved that Water Superintendent be authorized tQ have
necessarj repairs made to water plant on account of damage by storm of September ~

16th, 1928, and that purchase of 15 hp motor by him be approved, motion seconded by
Councilman Walker and carried. '~
Oouncilman Johnston moved that City Clerk be authorized to cancel City tax
certificate #390 iss'L\ed November 7th, 1927, against Lot 12, Block 2,. Southerm Pines
Colored Addition to Okeechobee, motion seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried.
Councilman Walker moved that Clerk be authorized to m~{e the follOMing transfer,
of City funds: $600.00 from I&S Water-Sewer Time Warrant Fund #9 to I&S Waterworks
Extension Bond Fund #20; $600.00 from I&S Waterworks Extension Bond Fund #20 to
Special General Fill1d #28; $600.00 from Special General Fund #28 to General Fund,
motion seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried.
Councilman Isaiah Casey tendered his resignation at this time as member of the ~
~ity Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, to take effect at once. ~
Councilman Walker moved that' Council accept resignation of Councilman Casey,
motion seconded by Councilman Hancpck and carried.
Councilman Walker nominated Councilman Johnston for President of City Oouncil,
nomination was seconded by Councilman Hancook and upon vote being taken Councilman
Johnston was elected President of City Council.
