Subject: Consider settlement of a lien on 1206 SW 5th Ave., in the foreclosure case
of City of Okeechobee v. Barbara Mills, in the Circuit Court of the
Nineteenth Judicial Circuit in and for Okeechobee County Case No. 47
2020 CC 000194 CCAX, (City Case No. 190215011).

This property was the subject of a foreclosure action filed by the City in 2020. The
property sold to a new owner before it was set for the foreclosure auction and the new
owner purchased it subject to the lien. The new owner reached agreement with City
staff of a recommended settlement of the lien. The original lien amount is $7,425. The
recommended settlement is $3,667. The settlement amount is less than half of the
original lien and will cover the City’s attorney’s fees and administrative costs.
Staff recommends settlement of the lien for $3,667.
