On September 6, you .received a letter explaining that the City was considering a Rezoning (from
Holding to Public Facilities) and a Future Land Use Map Amendment (from Industrial to Public
Facilities) on your property. The subject property, referenced as Map ID No. 13a, is the Ground
Water Treatment Plant and Wellhead Field located at 1200 NE 12th Street, and consists of 23.860
unplatted acres.
At the October 16 Public Hearing the City Council voted down the Rezoning proposal. However,
because your particular property was also considered for a Future Land Use Map Amendment,
which passed on first reading, your proposed Rezoning has been rescheduled.
The Rezoning Public Hearing, for first readinq is now December 4, 2012, at 6 p.m. The final
adoption Public Hearings for b.oth the Rezoning and Future Land Use, is still scheduled for January
15, 2013, at 6 p.m., City Hall, Council Chambers, Room 200, 55 SE 3rd Avenue.
For your records, I have included a copy of all the Planning Board and City Council minutes, where
the subject property has been discussed.

Several years ago, the City of Okeechobee adopted newzoning laws entitled Land Development Regulations
or LDR's. During this time the Zoning District Holding was deleted. The City has not taken any action to
change these zoning designations unless it was initiated by the property owner, as most of these properties
are undeveloped large parcels.
The City also adopted, as mandated by the State as part of the Growth Management Act, a Future Land Use
map. This map identifies what each property within the City Limits will be classified by using the existing use
or surrounding uses, if vacant.
It has now become necessary to address the Holding zoned properties in orderto make both maps consistent.
The City is officially notifying you that your property described below, is being rezoned from Holding to Public
Facilities and Future Land Use change from Industrial to Public Facilities. This change may affect your
property assessment. I encourage you to call Mickey Bandi, Property Appraiser's Office, 863-763-4422, to
discuss the matter.
Unplatted 23.860 acres.
There will be three meetings conducted of which you are entitled to appear in person or submit in writing any
comments, questions or objections you may have. The dates and times of these meetings are:
� S2ptember 20, 2012 6 p.m. Planning Board (purpose is to offer a recommendation
of the change to the City Council)
� October 16, 2012 6 p.m. ' City Council
� January 15, 2013 6 p.m. City Council (Final Public Hearing)
