1928-06-07 Special 241 - -- .. - .... Okeechobee, Florida, May 15th, 192ð. ~ The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session I I in the City Hall at 8 o'clock P. M. and the following were present: J. Denham Bird, Mayor, Isaiah Casey, President of City Oouncil, Councilmen Don P. Johnston, Ben Walker, H. H. Hancock and H. L. Chandler with R. P. Fletcher, Clerk, L. W. JenningS,! Ci ty Attorney and Lon Stewart, Chief of Police in attendance. I Minutes of meeting held May 1st, 1925 were read and approved. I Mrs. Worth appeared before Council and requested permission to erect a sign I in front of her restaurant. Onmcilman Hancock moved that Council grant Mrs. Worth permission to erect a ,-- sign in front of her restaurant on South Park Street, motion seconded by Councilman Johnston ru.d carried. ,- Oo'~mci 1m an J::)lms-~on moved that Council authorize Finance Comrni ttee, Oi ty Attor Þ ey and City Clerk to appear before the Board of County Commissioners relative to th payment of road and bridge funds due City of Okeechobee by Okeechobee County, motio seconded by Councilman Walker and carried. Councilman Hancock moved that Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute . agreement between City of Okeechobee and Seaboard Air Line Railway Company relative to crosssing over said railway on Hillsborough Street, motion seconded by Council- man Johnston and carried. Mr. George Emrich, representing G. B. Sawyers who operates under the style of G. B. Sawyers Oompany, proposed to enter into refinancing contract with Oity of Okeechobee and Peoples Bank of Okeechobee and tendered and proposed a draft of I I . said contract. I The.following resolution was offered by Oouncilman Hancock, Who moved its I I ~ adoption, motion seconded by Councilman Chandler and unanimously adopted: I BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, that I ì , . the refinancing contract as presented and prop sed by G. B. Minutes of meeting held May 15th were read and approved. City.Attorney Jennings reported that the Finance Committee, City Clerk and himself appeared before the County Commissioners on May 19th and presented the City's claim for money due from the County Road & Bridge Fund to the City, ~der the statute, and that they were advised by the Oo~~issioners that the County re- cognized the obligation, and the County Clerk was requested as soon as possible to confer with the Oity Clerk in arriving at the amount due, and further that the Oounty Engineer make estimate of cost of repairing bridge across Taylor's Creek; ----.. that the Oounty would co-operate with the Oi ty in making an equitable adjustment at the earliest conTenience. -, I I I ¡ Oouncilman Hanoock moved that Clerk be authorized to draw voucher transferring $520.00 fron I&S 1926 Bond Fund #27 to Sewer Bond Fund #24, motion seconded by Oo"U.."1.cilma.:.'1 Chandler and carried. Councilman lohnston moved that Council declare offices of Building Inspector, Plumbing Inspector &.îd Electrical Inspector vacant effective July 1st, 1928, and that Counoil appoint L. O. Mr. H. H. DeYarman appeared before CounciLrd.n regard to amount due Standard Oil l Company for gasoline and oil. '-- Councilman Chandler moved that Council issue time warrant in the sum of $252.91 due on or before six months from date, payable to Standard Oil Company, and that Council authorize the Mayor, President of City Council and City Clerk to execute I said time warrant, motion seconded by Councilman Johnston and carried.
