Florida, met in regular session at :1 " il ! the City Hall at 7.30 0' clock p. m. and the following were present: J. Denham Bird, L Mayor, I. ca Bey, President City Council, Councilmen Ben Walker and H. H. Hancock, "" Ii with R. P. Fletcher, Clerk, Lon Stewart, Chief of Police, L. C. Tootle, Water Super-I intendant and L. W. Jennings, City Attorney in attendance. Minutes of meeting held November 15th were read and approved. Mayor Bird at the request of Mrs. Crozier brought the matter of passing.,.~n ordinance prOhibiting chickens from running at large within the City limits before the Council. No a.ction on matter was taken by Council. - Meesrs O. J. Price and c. Winl1er appeared before Council relativ~ to the - , abandonment of certain streets in Winllert Woodland Park. Councilman Hancock øffered the' following resolutlon"andrmovëtitits adoption, --' motion seconded by Councilman Walker and passed: Be It Resolved by the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, that Thirteenth Street from Okeechobee Avenue to Somerset Street and that part of West- moreland Drive in Winkler's Woodland Park be and the same are hereby ababdoned and discontinued as public streets of said City. . Tootle, Water Superintendent in attendance. Minutes of meeting held December 6th, 1927 were read and auproved. Councilman Hancock moved that Gity "Ourchase one Fairbanks-Morse 3" centrifugal pump with speed transformer complete for the sum of $g9g.00, motion seconded by ,-.... Councilman Ch,,:ndler and passed. It having been ascertained that no nrovision had been made in the City budget, !i for the year 1928 for the salary of a motor cycle noliceman, the Clerk 'Nas requested II Ii to notify Mr. L. L. Conrad that the Aervices of a motor cycle pOliceman will be dis- !I I continued after December 31st, 1927. II II 'I . il il : II J ~ r . . 226 I II The following resolution was offered by Councilman Chandler, who moved its II adoption, motion Becollded by Councilman Walker and passed: Ilì Resolved by the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, that it is the enunciated policy of said City that manufacturing plants making a product of national consumption and distribution within the City of Okeechobee, Florida, ought not be taxed by the City of Okeechobee, Florida for a period of five years. Be it further resolved, the City Council do recommend to succeeding Councils that said policy be adhered to for said'Deriod of five years from this date. Uoon motion by Councilman Chandler, seconded by Councilman Walker, Council a.p'Oroved the following transfer of City funds: Nov. 2ð, 1927, $1,000.00 from '\ Special General Fund to General Fund; December 19,1927, $450.00 from Park. Fund to General Fund. ~ .~ ì Councilman Hancock moved that name of Interest & Sinking 1925 Time Warrant ! Fund be changed to Interest & Sinking 1927 Bond{ Fund, motion seconòed by Council- man Walker and passed. Upon motion by Oow1ci1man Hancock, seconded by Councilman Chandler, the President of Counoi1 and Ci ty Clerk were authorized to execute cemetery pla,t. The election of a successor to former Councilman Leon Latour was then taken up by Council, and the vote being taken by ballot was as follows: Don P. Johnston received three votes O. O. Davis received one vote. Don P. Johnston was declared elected a. member of the City Council of the " i City of Okeechobee, Florida, to serve the unexpired term of former Councilman II : ì Leon tatour. ; .. ,I Upon motion 'Jouncil adj ourned.
