1927-11-15 Regular 224 ---- ------- --------- ----------- - ----- -----------u_------------------- -------------- -------- -- -- ---_._- ------------------------------------------------- ------ Okeechobee, Florida, Nov. 15th, 1927. - The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida met in regular seesion at , the City Hall at 7.30 ø'clock p. m. and the following were present: J. Denham Bird, Mayor, I. Casey, President pro-tern of Council, Councilmen H. H. Hancock, ,H. L. Chandler and Ben W~lker with R.P. Fletcher, Clerk, Lon Stewa,rt, Chief of Police, L. O. Tootle, Water Superintendent and L. W. Jennings, City Attorney in attendance. ¥inutes of meetings held November 1st and November 8th were read and approved. Upon motion by Councilman Walker, seconded by Councilman Chandler, Council increased sa1ary of Clyde Hancock ae bridge tender from $75.00 to $100.00 per month. addressed Council J4ayor Bird ~nd Yr. H. H. Deyarmanlrelative to location of gasoline service pumps. Councilman Chandler moved that Dr. C. W. Morgan be appointed Special policeÅ“n -, and assigned to the enforcement of Ordinance No. Ill, motion seconded by Councilman I Walker and passed. Oi ty of Okeechobee Time Warra,nts dated Augu$t 1st, 1925 from one to fifty both inclusive which had been refunded wlth an issue of bonds of said City of like amount and maturities dated August 1st, 1927, having been cheOked by the City Council both as to bonds and coupons were 8.11 found to be in hand. Motion made by Councilman Walker, sdconded by Counci1man Chandler, that Time ~ Warrants of City of Okdechobee dated August 1st, 1925 from one to fifty both inclusive be burnèd in the presence of the Mayor and the City Council, motion carried. Thereupon City of Okeechobe. Time Warrants from one to fifty both inclusive dated August 1st, 1'25 were burned to ashes in the presence of the Mayor and thè City Council in open session thereof. Upon motion by Councilman Hancock, seconded by Councilman Walker, Council 1 I authorized City Tax Collector to allow 2% discount on all taxes paid during month ì of November and 1% on taxes paid during month of Deoember. - Councilman Hancook nominated Council~n I. Casey før president of City Council, nomination was seconded by Councilman Chandler and upon vote being taken Councilman Casey was elected president of City Council. . Councilman Walker nominated Councilman H. L. Chandler for President pro-tern of Council, ncmination was seconded by Councilman Hancock and upon vote being taken Councilman Chandler was e1ected,President pro-tem of Council.
