1927-11-08 Special 223 -,--, --- ,--- ._- -,-" . - - --,- "", ,---, ,- -----" -,-" -"-,-,, -"'.---."--' --- --- Okeechobee, Florida, Nov. 8th, 1927. - Purs-uant to call of the Mayor the City Council of the City of Okeeohobee, Fla., met in s~ial session at the City Hall at 5.30 o'olook p. m. and the following were present: J. D. Bird, Mayor, Leon Latour, President City Council, Councilmen H. L. Chandler, Ben Walker and I. Casey with R. P. Fletcher, Clerk in attendance. Mayor Bird stated that meeting of Council had been called for the purpose of receiving and accepting the City Tax Assessment Roll for the year 1927 as ~repared by the City Tax Assessor, considering resignation of Fire Chief and transacting any other buliness that may come before the Council R.P., Fletoher, City Tax Assessor, presented the City Tax Assessment Roll for the year 1921 to the City Council for its accep~anoe. ~ Councilman Chandler moved that Council accept City Tax Assessment ROll for the aI}d presented year 1927 as prepared/by the City Tax Assessor of the City of Okeeohobee, Florida, motion seconded by Councilman Walker and passed. The following warrant was ordered entered in the minutes of~e City Council: To Lon Stewart, Tax Collector of the City of Okeechobee: You are hereby commanded to collect out of the property and from eaoh of the persons, firms and corporatio~s named in the annexed Assessment Roll, the taxes set in said ROll down/apposite each name or parcel of land therein described and in case the taxes as extended are not paid by the time prescribed by law, you are to collect the same in manner as is prescribed by law, and all money collected you are to aocount- for to the City Oouncil of the City of Okeechobee and you are further required to make all collections and report and a final report to, and settlement with the City Council of said City as required by law and ordinances. Upon motion by CounCilman Walker, seconded by Councilman Chandler, Council accepted resignation of Jaok Davidson as Chief of Fire Department. Applications of H. C. Chandler and Horaoe Watford for Chief of Fire Department were received and read. Councilmen Walker moved that Council appoint H. C. Chandler Chief of Fire , Department of the City of Okeechobee, motion seconded by Councilman Casey and' passed. Le9n- ~ Council~Latour tendered his resignation as member of City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida to take effect at once. Councilman Walker moved that Council accept resignation of Councilman Leon Latour, motion seconded by Counoil88n Casey and passed.
