1927-10-18 Regular 220 -------- ---- ------ --~--------- -- --- !I Okeechobee, Florida, Oct. 19, 1927.': The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at ~ --J' 7.30 oclook P. m. at the City Hall and there were present the following: J. Denham Bird, Mayor, I. Casey, President pro-tem of Council in the'chair, Councilmen H. L. Chandler, H. H. Hancock and Ben Walker with R. P. Fletoher, Clerk, Lon. Stewart, Chief of Police, L. O. Tootle, Water Superintendent and L. W. Jennings, City Attorney!! in attendance. Absent: Leon Latour, President City Council. Minutes of meetings held October 4th, October llth and October 14th, 1927 were read and approved. - Messrs. Hatcher & Funke appeared before Council relative to balance due them for-services as architects on City Hall. ~ I Councilman Hancook moved ihat City pay Hatoher & Funke $2Sl.60, balance due ~ ! them for architects services on City Hall after deducting cost of installing vault J door, and that Clerk be authorized to transfer $281.60 from Special General Fund to City Hall Bond Fund for the purpose of paying this bill, motion seconded by Coun- cilman Chandler and passed. Ordinance No. 121 was proposed by Councilman Hanoock who moved its adoption, motion was seconded by Councilman Walker and upon the roll being called the follow- ingvoted: - Aye: Oouncilmen Casey, Hancock, Chandler and Walker Nay: None ORDINANOE lUMBER 121. AND THE CITY COUNOIL OF THE CITY OF OKEEOHOBEE, I , I I FLORIDA: "'-"'- (¡ Section l. That the City qf>Okeeohobee, Florida, hereby levy a tax of thirty- -- seven (37) mills on each dollar valuation of real and personal property within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, subject to taxation on the first day of January, A. D. 1927. Such tax shall be collected and asseseed in the manner provided by law. Sectt- 2. That nine (9) .ills of such tax shall be used for general city pur- "J poses; that two and one-quartel' (2i) mStl11 of such ta~ 1Jhall be used for fire protection; that two and one-quarter (2!)mills of such tax shall be used ~or the interest and sinking paving bond fund issue of 1920; that one and one-quarter (It> ~ J ' ~lls of such tax s~ll be used for the interest and 'inking water works bond fund -- i..ue of 1920; that two (2) mills of such tax shall be u8ed for interest and sink- ing water-sewer time warrant fund issue of 1921; that four (4) mills of such tax shall be used for the interest and sinking bond fund issue of 1924; that three and eJDe-quarter (3-4:> mills of such tax shall be used for the intereøt and sinking water works extension bond fund 18sue of 1925; that one {l) mill of such tax~ shall ;b.-~u8ed , - . - - r - - -----~ ---- -- - - ---- -- ---- 221 ---- ------ - ---- ------ ---- ---- ---- ---------0 -- --- - -------------- -------- for interest and sinking bond fund issue of 1927; that six (6) mills of such tax r~ shall be used for interest and sinking bond fund issue of 1926, and that six (6) mills of such tax shall be used for the paying of outstanding obligations of the said City and shall be deposited in the .peoial General Fund. Section 3. It shall be the duty of the City tax Collector and the City Clerk to divide the proceeds received from said taxes into various funds, as set out in the preoeeding sectl'on, and keep account thereof as may be directed by the City Council. Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. Read a fi88t time and by unanimous consent passed to a second reading. - Read a second time and by unanimous consent passed to a third and final reading. Councilman Walker mOved that Clerk be authorized to cancel voucher '3309 drawn on General Fund in favor of MoCarthy & Co for the sum of 180.49 and voucher 1338 drawn on Water Fund in favor of D. L. McGlashan for the sum of 15.00 and issue duplicate vouchers for said amounts, motion seconded by Councilman Chandler aDd passed. ,- Upon motion duly seconded and carried the City Tax Roll for the year 1927 was ordered returned to the City Tax Assessor for completion, whereupon 8aid -- tax roll waB returned to the Tax A8ø88sorfor completl~ Upon motion Council adjoarned. . ~ c::;: /- , President City Council.
