2007-03 PUD ZoningRESOLUTION NO. 07 -03 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, ENACTING AN ABEYANCE ON ALL SITE PLAN APPLICATIONS RELATING TO PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT (PUD) ZONING DISTRICTS; PROVIDING FOR TIME TO ENACT "ZONING IN PROGRESS" TO REVISE THE PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Okeechobee recognizes the public need to diligently update the regulations pertaining to the City's Planned Unit Development (PUD) District to ensure that said district provides for development flexibility; adequately promotes innovation, creative project design, enhanced open space and /or amenities, an improved living environment; and, protects environmentally sensitive areas; and WHEREAS, the City has instructed the City's Planning Consultant to develop modifications to the existing PUD regulations to ensure that said regulations protect the City's interests; promote public welfare; encourage development flexibility, innovation, and creative design; provide for enhanced open space and /or amenities, an improved living environment; and, protect environmentally sensitive areas; and WHEREAS, during the period in which new development regulations are being prepared, considered and adopted, in order to prevent the premature review and approvals of new development projects in the PUD District that may be incompatible with the developing zoning amendments NOW THEREFORE be it resolved before the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida; presented at a duly advertised public meeting; and passed by a majority vote of the City Council; and properly executed by the Mayor or designee, as Chief Presiding Officer for the City: SECTION 1. THAT it is necessary to enact "Zoning in Progress" directing that no site plans for development within the PUD Zoning District be accepted or reviewed by the City until "Zoning in Progress" has been completed by final consideration and adoption of the revised PUD development regulations by City Council.
