The City Council of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at 7.30 o'clock
p. m. on the above date and the following were present: T. W. Conely, Jr., Mayor,
H. H. DeYarman, President of Council, Councilmen L. F. Scharf schwerdt, H. T. Bass,
J. D. Bird and H. H. Hancock, with R. P. Fletcher, Clerk, L. W. Jennings, City Atto.-
ney, F. E. Lawrenoe, City Engineer and Olint,Bass, Chief of Police in attendance.
Minutes of meeting held November lOth and November 17th were read and approv6d.
Upon motion by Councilman Bass, duly seconded and carried, the City Attorney
was instructed to institute proper legal proceedings to have old building located
on Lot 3, Block 203, City of Okeechobee, condemmed and torn down.
City Engineer F. E. Lawrence took up with the Council the matter of securing
street crossing over the tracks of the Florida, Western & Northern Railway on of ' ~
Hil18borr~ Street.
Motion was made by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Soharfsohwerdt that -

City Attorney was instructed to take u~ with the proper officials the matter of se-
curing a street crossing over the tracks of the Florida, Western & Northern Railway
on Hillsbor.ugh Street. Motion passed.
Upon motion by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Bass, the City Bùilding

authorized Building Inspector to issue permit tø Marquis Clements to build an ad-
dition to South end of his restaurant.
Communication was received and read from the Okeechobee Audit Company relative
to making an audit of the City Clerk's books, and after discussing the matter the
Council postponed action until some future date.

Mr. A. Freedman addressed the Council relative to taking census of Okeechobee
in January, stating that Mr. B. L. Jennings, Sr. had agreed to take the census of
City for the sum of $250.00, and requested Council to make an appropriation for
this purpose.
Mr. Daugheety, Superintendent of the Southern Utilities Company stated that
his Company would pay $25.00 toward the expense of 'he City census.
Motion was made by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Bass, that City
take an official census of the City of Okeeohobee as of January lst, 1926, and that
the sum of 175.00 be appropriated for such puppose out of the General Fund of the
City. Motion passed.
Motion was made by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Sohaafschwerdt
that Council thank the Southern Utilities Company for its donation of $25.00

on ~xpense of City census. Motion passed.
Motion was made by Councilman Bird, duly seconded and carried that City pay
volunteer firemen $5.00 each for each run made to a fire when water is turned on
and $1.00 each when chemical tank only isused.
Upon motion by Councilman Bass, seconded by Councilman Hancock, the Water
Superintendent was instructed to tap water mains at any point when proper appli-
cation is made for same.
Motion was made by Councilman Scharfschwerdt, seconded by Councilman Bass that
after aanuary 1st, 1926 all water bills be paid at City Hall on or before the 10th
of each month, and when said bills remain unpaid, the Water Superintendent is instruot-
ed to cut o~f water from each consumer who has failed to pay by said date. Motion
passed.
