The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in reguiir session at 7.30 o'clock p. m. on the above date 'and the following were present: T. W. Conely, Jr., Mayør, H. H. DeYarman, President City Council, Councilmen L. F. Scharfschwerdt, J. D. Bird and H. T. Bass, with R. P. Fletoher, Clerk, and Clint Bass in attendance. Minutes of meeting held November 3rd, 1925 were read and approved. Mr. R. Y. Patterson appeared before the Council and requested Council to permit large sign advertising Conners' Highway to remain in street at or near present lo- cation. After considering the matter, the Council appointed Councilman Scharfschwerdt as a committee of one to confer with Mr. Patterson and decide on a location for . the sign. ,- Mr. Weatherly, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, addressed the Council in regard to. Ci ty purchasing illustra,ted li thrographed letter heads for use of City, in advertising Okeeohobee. .. Motion was u~~e by OOunCl~~l Bird that City purchase 5000 illustrated lithro- graphed letter heads through Okeechobee Chamber ofOommerce, and motion was duly seconded by Councilman Scharfschwerdt and passed by unanimous vote. Mr. Weatherly then addressed the Council relative to paying freight on weather instruments and installing same, and the reporting of weather records. Judge G. O. Durrance requested the Council to permit the Pentacost Church to use one of the City parks for the purpose of holding a revival, and said request was granted. Upon motion by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Bass, Council appropri- , . ~~ ated $2500.00 for ~he purpose of purchasing 2 lots near SouthtO!ty limits to be use~ for City water tank. .-- Councilman Bird took up with the Council the matter of sewer main for new High School building and also paving North side of North Park Street from Hichpochee Street to Seminole Street and Borth side of south Park Street from Miami Street tø Osceola Street, and these matters were referred to the City Engineer. Application of John M. McDonald for position in street department was received and read. Upon motion By Councilman Bass, seconded by Councilman Bird, Council appropri- City ated $25.00 per month to pay helper for/scavenger man. Motion was made by Councilman Bass seconded by Councilman Bird that City Inter- est & Sinking 1925 Time Warrant Fund be deposited in the Bank of Okeechobee and that ~ City Interest & Sinking Water Works Extension Bond Fund be deposited in the Peoples Bank of Okeechobee. Motion passed. Upon motion by Councilman Bass, duly seconded and carried, the City Attorney was instructed to institute proper legal proceedings to have old building located on Lot 3, Block 203, City of Okeeohobee, condemaed and torn down. City Engineer F. E. Lawrence took up with the Council the matter of securing street crossing over the tracks of the Florida, Western & Northern Railway on . .~ ,¡: , Hillsborr~ Street. Motion was made by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Soharfsohwerdt that - . .
