President of the City Council, Councilmen, H. T. Bass, H. H. Hancook, J. Denham Bird and L. F. Scharfschwerdt with R. P. Fletcher, Clerk, Clint Bass, Chief of Poli.e, L. W. Jennings, City Attorney and W. E. Darrow, Assistant City Engineer in attendanoe. Minutes of meeting held September l5th were read and approved. Mr. H. L. Upon motion by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Bass and duly carried, the matter of gra.nting a franchise to the Florida Light & Power Company was indef- initely postponed. Mr. D. R. McNeill addressed the Council in regard to the poor telephone ser- vice furnished by the Inter County Telephone & Telegraph Company, and requested the Oounoil to use its influence for an improvement in the service. Motion was made by Councilman Bass, seconded by Oounoilman Hancook that the City pay Okeeohobee News at the rate of 75~ per inch for each insertion of legal advertising. Upon motion by Councilman Bass, seconded by Oounoilman Hanoook, the Oounoil .--- approved the following subdivision plats: Crozier's Woodland Park, Vickers Wood- land Park, Winklers Woodland Park and McMullen's Woodland Park. Upon motion by Oounoilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Hanoook, the City build- ing inspector was instructed to collect the usual inspection fees on all public buildings. Motion was made by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Soharfsohwerdt and duly carried that F. J. Everts be appointed City plumbing inspector. Motion was made by Councilman Bass, seoonde4 by Councilman Bird that City have three signs painted advertising the City water and placed at the East, West and Soutþ City limits. Motion was made by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Soharfschwerdt, that Street City grade Tallahassee Street from Fifth IW,.. Avenue to Third Street and Third/and Fourth Street from Tallahassee Street to Farrott Avenue. Motion passed. Motion was made by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Soharfschwerdt, that City grade Second Street in South Okeeohobee and South Street from Parrott Avenue to the Florida East Coast Railway yards. Motion passed. Motion was made by Councilman Scharfschwerdt, seconded by Councilman Hancock, that City Engineer be authorized to advertise for bids for grading and paving South Park Street from Osceola Street to West City limits, and Kissimee Street from Fifth Avenue to Second Street. Motion passed. Motion was made by Councilman Bird, seconded by Oounoilman Soharfschwerdt that the Florida Western & Northern Railway Company be required to fill up barrow pits on right of way and open street crossings. ,~ Motion was made by Councilman Bass, seconded by Councilman Bird, that N. O. Stewart be appointed as a policeman of the City of Okeechobe., Florida. Motion passed. President DeYarman being absent, President pro-tem Bird presided over the- m.eting. increase in the Mr. A. Freedman appeared befo.e the Oouncilin regard to the/assessment of Lot ll, Blook 149, and requested the Council to reduce the valuation to tg,500.00. ~ Motion was made by Councilman Scharfschwerdt, seconded by Councilman Hancock that the valuation of Lot ll, Block 149 for the year 1925 be fixed at 110,000.00. __0 Motion passed. The Council then proceeded to consider the budget for the year 1926. upon motion duly seconded and carried the Oounoil adjourned to meet at 7.30 o'clock p. m. October 14th, 1925 for the purpose of completing the City budget for the year 1926 and fixing the tax levy for said year. Pursuant to adjournment the City Oounoil met at 7.30 o'clock p. m.
