W. Conely, Jr., Mayor, H. H. DeYarr;nn, President of the City Council, Councilmen H. H. Hancock, H. T. Bass, L. F. Scharfschwerdt and J. Denham Bird, with R. P. Fletcherw Clerk, L. W. Jennings, City Attorney, F. E. Lawrence, City Engineer and Clint Bass, Chief of Police in attendance. ~inut€s of meetings held September 1st and September ðth were read and approved. Mr. Ellis, representing the Southern Utilities Company, addressed the Council wi th refere.nce to the Council granting said Company a new franchise for a period of thirty years. U,on Lotion by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Bass, the Council autho~~ ---- ized the p~rchase of an oiling outfit and one car of rock for repairing streets, and the City Engineer was instructed to order same. Ordinance No. 96 was offered by Co~ncilman Scharfschwerdt, seconded by Coun- cilman Hancock and adopted by unanimous vote. ORDINANCE NO. ;6 AN ORDINANCE l1AKING J:T UNLAWFUL TO DRIVE OR OPERATE AN AUTOUOBILE IN A RECK- LESS l~AlnJER, AND PRESCRIBING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE. :3E IT ~RDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA'. Section 1. The driving or operation of a motor driven vehicle or automobile on the streets of the Oi ty of Œ::eechobee, Florida, irl a reckless or careless manner beõ;nd the same is hereby THade unlawful and a violation of this ordinance. Section 2. M. Mitchum and C. A. Steed &: Son. lJotion was nia,de by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Bass, that Council reduce the valuation on Lot 10, Block 166 for the years 1921 and 1922 to $1600.00, and that OWLer of same be allowed to redeem tax-certificate against said lot on said v8,lua tion. --- Upon ~}otion by Councilman Bass, seconded by Councilman Hancock, the Council agreed to he:7e ditches cleaned out to drain the ball park. Upon motion by Councilman Bass, seconded by Councilman Hancock, th'e Oi ty Attorney was instructed to prepare an ordinance requiring dealers in ice to pro- vide their delivery trucks with scales for weighing ice. Hotion was made by CouncilŒa.n Bird, seconded by Councilman Hancock that City employ an ad_lÍ tional policeman. Motion passed.
