Pursuant to adj ourrurlent the City Council met at ß 0' clock P. m. on the above date
- and there were present the following: H. H. DeYarman, President of Council,Council-
men H. H. Hancock, H. T. Bass, L. F. Scharfschwerdt and J. D. Bird, with R. P. Fletch-
~ er, City Clerk, L. W. Jennings, City Attorney, and Clint Bass, Chief of Police in
attendance.
Minutes of meetings held July 7th and July 10th were read and approved.
Mr. F. E. Lawrence, City Engineer, made report to Council in regard to draining
Seventh and Osceola Streets.
Upon motion by Councilman Bass, seconded by Councilman Hancock, the Council
authorized the construction of three catch basins and l~ying of sufficient pipe for
draining Osceo~a Street from Seventh Street to South Park Street,
.Mr. J. G. McNeff appeared before the Council in rega:rd to the construction

of colonades on nliX and West sides of Southland Hotel.
Upon motion by Councilman Bird duly seconded and car:ried, the Council granted J.
G. McNeff permission to construct col~nades on South and West sides of Southland
Hotel in accordance with original plans of Hotel.
- Upon motion by Councilman Bird, duly seconded and carried the Street Commijtee
was instructed to confer with the Chairman of Board of County Commissioners with
- the view of having the County prisoners returned from St.Lucie County and hired to
the City at same rate as paid by St.Lucie County for the purpose of digging ditches
for drainage.
Applications of J. W. Johnson and G. S. Waller for night policeman were read.
Motion was made by CouncilITan Scharfschwerdt, seconded by CouncilIT~n Bass, that
O. Z. Brookins be removed as night policeman effective August 1st, 1925. Uotion passed.
Upon motion by Councilman Sebarfsohwerdt, seconded by Councilman Bass, the City
Clerk was authorized to sign acceptance of assignment of contract from the Bowyer Co.
to the Bank of Okeechobee.
Upon motion by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Hancock, the Council

AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE OUTER FIRE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA. ~
BE IT ORDAlKED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE,
OKEEOHOBEE COUNTY, FLORIDA:
Section~ 1. The outer fire limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, be and
the same are hereby extended, the followi~g hereinafter territory being added to
said fire limits hereby, to-wit:
All those lots, tracts or parcels of land being and lying within l42! feet on
each side of the outside limits of Parrott Avenue e~tending from the North City
limits to Eighth Street;

All those lots, tracts or parcels of land being and lying within l42t feet on

each side of the outside limits of Parrott Avenue extending from the South City

and,
All those lots, tra.cts or parcels of land being and lying within l42t feet on

to Okeechobee Avenue;

each side of the outside limits of South Park Street extending from the West City
limits to Okeechobee Avenue;

each side of the outside limits of North Park Street extending from the East City

It is the intention of this ordinance to annex the territory herin set out to

the outer fire limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, and the intent of the des-
criptions set out above are to join said territory to the present outer fire limits
of said City.
Section 2. All ordinances hertofore passed governing the erection of buildings
wi thin the fire li::1i ts 'Jf the Ci ty of Okeechobee are hereby re-affirmed, and said or...
dinances made applicable and effective to the herein annexed territory.
Section 3. This ordmnance will take effect immediately upon its passage and
approval by the Mayor.

instructed~o write the Florida East Coast Railway Company and request said Oom-
pany to establish four street crossings in East Okeechobee.
