Pursuant to call of President DeYarman, Acting Mayor, the City Council met
in special session at 11 o'clock A. M. on the above date and there were present the
following: H. H. DeYarman, President City Council, Councilmen J. Denham Bird, H. T.
Bass and L. F. Scharfschwerdt with R. P. Fletcher, Clerk, L. W. Jennings, City
Attorney and Clint Bass, Chief of Police in attendance.
President DeYarman stated that the meeting of the Council had been called for
the purpose of considering the matter of decreasin~ the outer fire limits.
Upon motion by Councilman Bass, seconded by Councilman Bird and duly carried,
the City Attorney was instructed to prepare an ordinance eliminating territory be- I
tween Eighth and Ninth Streets from outer fire limits.

Pursuant to call of Mayor Conely, the City Council met in special session at
3 O'clock P. M. on the above date and the following were present; T. W. Conely, Jr.,
Mayor, H. H. DeYarman, President City Council, Councilmen: H. H. Hancock, H. T. Bass,
and J. Denham Bird with R. P. Fletcher, City Clerk, L. W. Jennings, City Attorney,

Mayor Conely stated that the meeting had been called for the purpose of con-
sidering matters pertaining to sanitation with Mr. Lynch, representative of the
State Boa~d of Health and such other matters as may cOme before the Council~

in regard to the sanitary conditions of the City.

Motion was made by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Hancock'nthat City

purchase 250 three gallon galvanized buckets. Motion passed.

Upon motion by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Hancock, the City Engineer
was instructed to draw tenative plans for an incinerator to cost not more tha~
$10,000.00.
Upon motion by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Hancock and duly carried,
the City Attorney was instructed to prepare an ordinance providing for the issuing:
of $50,000.00 City of Okeechobee Time Warrants for municipal purposes
Motion was made by Councilman Hancock, seconded by Councilman Bird, that City
open Palmetto Street from North Park Street to Avenue B in Wright's Addition. Motion
passed.

pay $17.50 for an advertisement in the Everglades News. Motion carried. ~

AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO THE FLORIDA WESTERN & NORTHERN RAILROAD COMPANY A
FRANOHISE TO BUILD, CONSTRUCT AND MAINTAIN AND OPERATE A RAILROAD IN THE CITY OF
OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA.
SECTION 1.
That the Florida Western & Northern Railroad Company, a corporation, its suc-
cessors and assigns forever be, and the same is hereby granted permission, power and
authority to build, construct and perpetually maintain and operate a railroad in the
City of Okeechobee, Florida.

Section II.
That the said Florida Westerb & Northern Railroad Company, a corporation, its ,~

successors and assigns forever be, and the same is hereby granted permission, power '
and authority to build, construct and perpetually maintain and operate a line of ~
railroad, including the main line and such turnouts or sidetracks as may be necessary
or convenient for the passage of trains or for industral usage, over, upon and across
any an~ all public streets, avenues, alleys and public grounds of the City of Okee-
chobee, Florida, which now or may hereafter intersect with the rmght of way of the
said Florida Western & Northerb Railroad Company,as the same has been constructed
through the said City of Okeechobee, Florida; PROVIDED such turnouts and sidetracks
shall not be constructed beyond the boundaries of the present Right of Wa;; PROVIDED
further that the said Florida Western & Northern Railroad Company, its successors

and assigns shall maintain and keep in good condition at all times all street
crossings over and upon the tracks of said Railroad Company in the said City of
Okeechobee, Florida.
SECTION III.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

Council upon the third reading this the 22nd day of June A. D. 1925.

sidering an ordinance providing for the inspection of buildings and collection of
building inspection fees and such other business as may come before the Council.

ORDINANCE NO. 92
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE INSPECTION OF BUILDINGS INSPECTION FEES TO BE
PAID BY THE OWNERS OF BUILDINGS; PRESCRIBING THE AMOUNTS OF SUCH FEES AND MAkING
SUCH FEES A LIEN ON THE BUILDING INSPECTED, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ENFORCEMENT OF
SUCH LIENS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE,
FLORIDA.

Section 1. From and after the passage and approval of this ordinance the City
Building inspector of the City of Okeechobee,Shall, and is hereby required to inspect
all buildings under construction at the time of the passage hereof, and all building,
erected whOlly or in part after the passage hereof. Such inspection or inspections
shall be made by the building inspector as often as may be necessary in order to
ascertain whether or not such building or buildings are being erected in compliance
to the building ordinances of the City of Okeechobee.
The term building as used herein shall be construed to include not only new
buildings but any extensions or enlargement of a building already erected.
Section 2. That there is hereby assessed against any building being erected or
--- to be erected in the City of Okeechobee as set out in Sec. 1 of this ordinance, an
inspection fee as follows:
Buildings costing up to and including $25,000.00, one half of l% of the cost
of such building.
Buildings costing from $25,000.00 to and including $100,000.00, one half of 1%
for the first $25,000.00 of the cost of such buildings, and one fourth of 1% of the
remaining cost thereof; !
