'- Okeechobee, Florida~ June nSth, ~925 Pursuant to advertisement in the Okeeohobee News, a newspaper published in the Mayor and City of Okeeohobee, Florida, thelCity Council met in special session at 2 o'clock P. M. on the above date and the following were present: T. W. Conely, Jr., Mayor, H. H. DeYarman, President~ Councilmen H. T. Bass~ H. H. Hancock and L. F. Scharfsch- werdt with R. P. Fletcher, Clerk, F. E. Lawrence~ City Engineer and L. W. Jennings, ~ Oity Attorney in attendance. --. Mayor Conely stated that the Council had met for the purpose of receiving and ' considering bids for water works improvements. Bids were opened and read as follows:- J. B. McCrary Engineering Corporation; The Bowy,er Company; R. M. Mitchum; Amerioan Cast Iron Pipe Company; U. S. Cast mron Pipe Company; Je. R. Hanner; J. C. Hanner Construction Company; Central Foundry Oom- pany; R. D. Wood &: Company; Michigan Valve &: Foundry Company; Ludlow Valve Mfg. 00.; Kennedy Valve Mfg. Company; Fairbanks~ Morse &: Company; Goulds Manufaoturing Company; Worthington Pump &: },{a,chinery Corpora.tion; Morris Machine Works; Florida Machinery &: Supply Company; Frederiok Iron &: Steel Company; LeOourtney Company; The Trane Oomp- any; Pi ttsburgh-DeMoines Steel Company; Chicago Bridge &: Iron Oompany-; R. D. Cole Mfg. Company; J. S. Schofields Sons &: Company. The City Engineer was instructed to tabulate the above bids §nd report same to the Council. Upon motion duly seconded and carried the Council adjourned to meet at 2 o'clock -¡ i P. M. June 9th, 1925. - Pursuant to adjournment the City Council met at 2 o'clock P. M. June 9th~ 1925 and the following were present: H. H. DeYarman, President, Councilmen L. F.Scharfs- werdt and H. T. Bass with R. P. Fletcher, Olerk~ L. W. Jennings~ City Attorney and F. E. Lawrenoe, City Engineer in attendance. City Engineer ~awrence submitted report of bids on water works improvements. Motion was made by Councilman Bass, seconded by Councilman Soharfsohwerdt that \ as specified in R. M. Mitohum be awarded contract for furnishing all material and labor/III Sections one and three of Water Works Extension Specifications for the sum of $46,053.67. Motion passed. ~ i Motion was made by Councilman Soharfschwerdt, seconded by Councilman Bass that The Bowyer Company be awarded contract for furnishing all material and labor as specified in Section two of Water Works Extension Specifications~ provided said Company executes contract satisfactory to City of Okeechobee. Motion passed. Fletcher~ Clerk, F. E. Lawrence, City Engineer and L. W. Jennings~ City Attor- ney in attendance. Minutes of meetings held June 2nd, .June 8th and June 9th were read and approved. City Engineer Lawrence made report to Council relative to bids for furnishing pumps and motor for City water plant. Motion was made by Councilman Bass, seconded by Councilman Hancock that Council award contract for furnishing pumps and motors for City water plant to Fairbanks~ Motse & Company. Upon motion by Councilman Hancock, seconded by Councilman Bass and duly carried the Council appointed L. C. Tootle as water superintendent at a salary of $250.00 ! per month. : ! Upon motion by Councilman Bird~ seconded by Councilman Hancock and carried, the City Attorney was intructed to prepare an ordinance providing the following building ,.- . tnspeotion fees: All amounts up to $25,000.00 t of l%; From $25,000.00 to $100,000.00 t of 1%; All amounts over $100,000.00 l/g of l%. . Upon motion By Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Scharfschwerdt and carriëd the Council appropriated $300.00 to be used in filling in pond west of School House. Upon motion by Councilman Bird, seconå4d by Councilman Hancock the Clerk was authorized to have 100 copies of the building ordinance printed in pamphlet form. I duly I Upon motion by Councilman Ba~seoonded apd carried, the Council authorized 1 the ~rchase of 200 feet o~:o be placed in ditch 00 north side of North %rk street near F. M. Mobley's. . I Upon motion by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Bass and carried, F. J. --- Godwin was authorized to employ an additional man to help with City work. Motion was made by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Scharfschwerdt that Council employ C. A. Steed to open up drainage ditches where needed under supervisio~ ì of City Engineer. !
