Okeechobee, Florida~ April.24, 192~. -- The Mayor and City Council met in special session at g o'clock P. M. on the above date, pursuant to-aall of the Mayor and the following were present: T. W. Con- ely, Jr., Mayor, H. H. DeYarman~ President City Counoili Councilmen J. .Denham Bird~ . Jr. H. T. Bass and H. H. Hanoock with R. P. Fletcher, Clerk, B. L. Jennings, City Attor- ney, and Clint Bass, Chief of Police in attendance. The Mayor stated that the purpose of the meeting was to consider an ordinance providing for water rates and o~her- regulations pertaining to water supplY,and such , other business as may come before the Council. Ordinance No. gg was introduced by Councilman Bass, seconded byOounoilman Bird and.oarried by unanimous vote: ORDINANCE NO. gg . ---- AI ORDINANCE CREATING A WATER COKMITEE AND A SUPERINTENDENT OF WATER WORKS , FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE~ FLORIDA; PRESORIBING THE DUTIES OF SAID OOMMITTEE AND SUPERINTERDENT,THEIR QUALIFIOATIONS AND FUNCTIONS; PRESCRIBING THE MANNER AND MEANS IN WHICH WATER OONNEOTIONS MAY BE MADE; PROHIBITING UNAUTHORIZED OONNECTIONS AND DESTRUOTION ORDAlAGE~TO THE WATER SYSTEM OF OKEEOHOBEE AFORESAID, AND PRES*- . CRIBING A PEN1LTT7FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, AND PRESCRIBING WATER RATES FOR SAID CITY AND PROVIDING PUNíS1U4ENT FOR VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE REGULATIONS IN SAID ORDINANOE. Said Ordinance No. gg was duly approved by the Mayor and ordered filed by the . City Clerk. " . Motion was made by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Bass and duly . carried that the City Attorney be instructed to draw ordinance extending the inner and outer fire ~ones. . Upon motion by Councilman Bird, seconded by Councilman Bass and carried the City Engineer was authorized to order a pipe pusher for the City. President DeYarman being absent, President pro-tem J. Denham Bird presided over the meeting. Kinutes of msetings held April ~th, léth and:;MI. were read and approved. Mr. D. R. "". ~""-~" "~"-" _--"_"_m___"_"""--~ ~~------~-~ "-~--~"- ~-"-~- ""-"""~ ."--~-~~ Mr. Hiltie of the Southern utilities Company addressed the Council relative to electric power rates for the City water p&int at the Lake and agreed to furnish the ,~ City electric current at the rate of six cents per kilowatt. Mr. F. E. Lawrenoe, City Engineer, adressed the Council relative to rate for electric current at the City water plant at the Lake. Motion was made by Councilman Bass~ seconded by Councilman Hanoook that Council accept proposal of Southern Utilities Company to furnish electric current for power at City water plant at Lake Okeeohobee and that proper City officials be authorized to execute agreement with said Company. Motion passed. I Upon motion By Councilman Soharfsohwerdt, seconded by Oouncil~n Bass and duly for carried the City Engiheer was authorized to advertise for bids IX water works ex- ~ tension and pumping plant. - upon motion by Councilman Hancook, seconded by Councilman Bass and carried the for City Engineer was authorized to advertise for bids .X curbing and gutter around City Park between North Park and South Park Streets and Osceola and Hiopoohee Streets and for sidewalks across said Park. Upon motion by Councilman Bass, seconded by Councilman Hanoook and carried, W. O. Boone and F. J. Godwin were instructed to make all taps for water connections under the supervision of the City Engineer. Resignation of R. J. Turner as night policeman was received and read. Upon motion b1 Councilman Scharfsohwerdt~ seconded by Councilman Bass, resig- nation of R. J. Turner was accepted by the Council. for night policeman Apllications of L. J. Hatch~ C. A. Harden and O. Z. Brookins/were received and read. The Council proceeded to elect a night policeman by àallot and the vote was as follows: .l I o. Z. Brookins received four votes. -- O. Z. Brookins was deo1ared elected night policeman. Mr. Don P. Johnston addressed the Council relative to extending the City limits on the South side of the City.
