above date and the following were present:- H. H. DeYarman, President, Councilmen
H. T. Bass, L. F. Scharfsohwerdt, J. Denham Bird and H. H. Hanoook with R. P. Flet-
oher, Clerk and F. E.lawrenoe, 01ty Eng1neer in attendance~
preside~~tated that the special meeting had been called for the purpose
of considering the matter of taking space for the City in a book to advertise ~he St.te
of Florida.
M8,srs Ley ton and Tobi addressed the Council w1th refernoe to advertising the
Oityo! Okeeohobee by taking space in the "Book of Florida'. -
Motion was made by Councilman Bass, seconded by Councilman Hanoock that City

agre~ to take two pages in the"Book of Florida" for the purpose of advertising'the
City-of Okeeohobee for the sum of 1350.00 and on call of the roll the vote was

Upon motion by Councilman Soharfsohwerdt duly seconded by Councilman Bird

Pursuant to advertisement in the Okeechobee Hews~-!lnewspaper published in ~
the City of Okeeohobee~ Florida~ the Mayor and City Oounoil met in Special Ses-
sionat 2 O'clock P. M. on the above date for the purpose of considering bids fœr
the $llO,OOO.OO par value City of Okeechobee Waterworks Extension Bonds and the
following were present: T. W. Conely, Jr.~ Mayor, H. H. neYarman~ President, O~un-
oilmen H. H. Hancook, J. Denham Bird, H. T. Bass and L. F. Scharfsohwerdt with
R. P~ Fletoher, City Clerk, and B. L. Jennings, Jr., dity Attorney in attendance
~he Mayor stated that the purpose of the meeting was to receive and consider
bids -for the sale of City of Okeechobee Waterworks Extension Bonds, Issue of 1925,

and to award the bonds to the highest and best bidder provided a satisfactory bid
was received.
-Sealed bids were opened and read by the City Clerk, it being found that &81

sealed bid of L. R. Ballinger and Company was the highest bid as follows:

Gentlemen:-
For the $llO,OOO.OO of 6% semi-annual interest, Waterworks Extension Bon",
as herein described, we will pay the sum of One Hundred Twelve Thousand Four Hun-
dred seventy-five Dollars and accrued interest to date of delivery to us.
We will accept delivery of said bonds at the Union Trust Company in the City
of Cincinnati, O. and take up and pay for same promptly upon delivery of said bonds
to said bank, together with the approving opinion of Messrs. Caldwell & Raymond,
Bond Attorneys of New York City.
¡ We enclose herewith our certified check to the amount of $2~200.00, which check
~s to guarantee our compliance with the terms of the purchase agreement~ if bonds
- are awarded to us; or in the event of our failure to so comply, to be forfeited to
the City for liquidated damages.

Motion was made by Councilman Bird~ seconded by Councilman Bass that Council
enter into executive session, motion passed. Council then resumed open session and
President of Council stated that the highest sealed bid received would be used as a
minimum figure and that the sale would proceed by auction. Thereupon, the bidders
present increased their offers until the Bank of Okeechobee had bid the sum of
tl16,935.00 with accrued interest. Motion was made by Councilman Hanoook~ seconded
by Councilman Bass that bids be closed. Upon motion by Councilman Bird seconded by

The City Council met in regular session at ð o'clock P. M. on the above date ~
and the following were present: T. W. Conely, Jr., Mayor, H. H. DeYarman, President
City Council, Councilmen H. H. Hanoock~ J. Denham Bird and H. T. Bass with R. P. Fletöh- ~
er, City Olerk~ F. E. Lawrenoe, City Engineer~ B. L. Jennings, Jr., City Attorney,
and Clint Bass, Chief of Police in attendance.
Minutes of meetings held April 7th and April l6th were read and approyed.
Mr. H. L. Chandler appeared before the Council with reference to closing North
Curve and 8outh Curve Streets.
Mr. R. L. Pearce appeared be fore the Council relative to pond West of School
House and requested Council to have same drained.
Commtnioation was received and read from Baard of Publio Instruotion in regard

to charge for water at School House~ and the Clerk was instructed to make no charge I
for water used at School Building.
Motion was made by Oounoilmàn B1rd, seconded by Councilman Hanoock and carried
that City employ W. O. Boone at a salary of $150.00 per month. ,
