The ~atter ~of the appointment of a building inspector was brought before
the Council. ~ritten applications were received from. Carlisle Thomas, Sr., H.F.
I. Walker rec~ ved two votes and H. 1~. Harden received ~ne vote, thereby ~nomas A.
Walker was app }inted Building Inspector for the City of Okeechobee, effective April
4, 1956. Sala .y to be derived from building permit fees.
The lewer matter was discussed. The Council requested Mayor Raulerson to
contact the En ineering Firm from Veto Beach, Lanning, Sharp and AssOciates, Inc.
requesting the to meet with the Council April 17 at 7:30 P. M. regarding a sewer and
water surveye
F. H Wilcox appeared before the Council stating the need of 2000 feet of
water line ex+nsion to his proposed FHA project site. The Council agreed for Water
Supt. Kinsaul ;o make survey. Matter deferred until adjourned meeting.
A si :uation was reported by Hulon Walker as to a street being on property
owned by his s )n. Due to the expense that would occur in moving the street the
Council agreed to endeavor to purchase an adjoining lot and deed to Walker, providing
it meete with iis approval.
Mrs I. J. Blosvern spoke on the ~anitax-y condition of the city and the need
of a sanitary inspector.
lppl [cation was received from Clifton Godwin requesting the closing of
12th Street ir, South 0keechobee. ~he Council 'deferred aCtion pending approval of
all adjoining )roperty ,~ners who will be notified by Attorney Durrance.
A dt ~cussion on water line extension in lake was heard. The Council agreed
to use old li~ ~t~ poles removed from soft ball field for pilin~ in lake.
Coup. ~ilman Chand~..er moved to change the Council meeting hour from 7:00 P. M.
to 7:30 P. M. mtil further notice, seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried.
The Jlerk was requested to notify all owners of Service Stations who had
applied for t~ monthly city purchases to list on tickets of gas and oil purchases,
type of vehic~ tag number, speedometer reading and have signature of purchaser on
all tickets.
Buf Lding applications were submitted by the following and upon motion by
Councilman 0h~ ~dler, seconded by Councilman Harden and carried applications were
approved and ~ ~mtts ordered issued to Pete~ Bastiancic $250.00, Audley Dunham $6,000,
and Harwood M~ :ine Sales $5',000.
~our ~ilman Harden moved to have 500 building permits blanks printed seconded
by Councilman Ehandler and carried.
Cour ~ilman Gardner moved to extend a 2" water line, 244 feet on Railroad
Street in Cypz ~ss Quarters to propert~y owned by J. C. Rogers, seconded by Councilman
Chandl er and
A 1 was read from the Weinman Pump Mfg. ~ompany, regarding the speci-
fication ~ud of pump used at the water plant. Supt. Kinsaul stated the
need of said and due to this ,emergenoy Councilma~ Gardner moved~to p.urehaee
as per letter seconded by-Councilman Chandler and carried.
Upon motion the Council adjourned to meet April 17, 1956.
