a~ the City Hall on t · above date at 7:00 P. M. with the following present: Mayor
H. H. Raulerson, pres~dent~ Walker, Councilmen Gardner, Harden and Rhymes with O. C.
E,~rrance, City Atto n and Lorena Spivey, C Clerk.
Minutes of ire meeting held Pebruar~y 7, 1956, were read and approved as read.

The Councili agreed for the monthly gas and oil purchases to be granted only
to those Service StatllonS that had submitted their written applications for this

~o~ncilman~ardner moved to authorize the installation of the following
street lights in East 0keechobee and the Clerk to notify Florida Power and Light

Bob Hess, t~irector of the Chamber of Commerce, requested the cooperation
of the City in fUrnishing equipment and labor in helping to improve the beach adjoining
the way side park. ~e City agreed to help insofar as is possible.
Counc~ lman l~arden presented the following Resolution and moved its adoption.

WHEREAS th~ city council of the city of 0keechobee, Florida, is advised
that some ~rson or persons are planning on opening a place for the sale
of intoxic~ing at the foot of Parrott Avenue within Short
distance o the Way-Side Park, now under, construction by the State Road
Department,l and
WHEREAS, th~ council anticipates that said Way-Side Park will be visited
by a large ~umber of the citizens of the State of Florida, as well as
visitors ,~ l/or tourist from various other states, annually' and ~ .
WHE~AS, the city council has given careful consideration to this matter,
it ~ the well considered opinion of said council that the establishment
of ~: Bar and/or Saloon, with its attendant evils, will be obnoxious to
the ~citizens residing on the Lake Front, as well as those visiting the
Way.Ado Park, and will seriously detract from the general public the
enj~ent and pleasure which they would otherwise secure, now, therefore;
BE ~ RESOLVED BY ~ C0~NCIL OF ~HE CITY OF 0KEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, that
the ~Board of Commissioners of 0keechobee County, Florida, be and they are
her~y respectfully requested to use the power vested in t hem by law, t o
prc~ent the establishment of a place where intoxicating liquor is sold,
al°~.~ the Lake Front, lying between State Road ~8, and the Government
Di.~:-:$, tud West of Parrott Avenue extending to Eagle Bay.

F- ~. Wilcox discussed with the Council his proposed FHA project and stated
the need of s~wer extension. After discussion the Clerk was instructed to contact
Richard Starr~ Jr., Regional Engineer of State Board of Health, requesting him to
advise as to ~hen he could meet with the City Council to d~scuss the affect the
added houses ~ould have on the existing sewer. After a general discussion on the
sewer situatiSn the Council agreed to meet with the County Commissioners and endeavo~
to wo~k out s~me kind of sewer program.
Co cilman Harden was chosen to represent the City in the Taylor Creek
watershed pro~am.,
The~matter of appointing a building inspector was .brought before the Council.
Since only tw~ applications had been filed the Council deceided to call for w~itten
applications,i]said applications to be considered at the next regular meeting.
Co~cilman~ Gardner moved to accept the semt-annuall contract as offered
by the Americ~ LaFrance Corporation. Inspections to be made during the 2nd and 4th
quarters, seconded by Councilman Rhymes and carried.
~ne~following building applications were submitted and upon motion by
Councilman G~dner, seconded by Councilman Rhymes and carried, applications were
approved and ermits ordered i~ued to: FloridaHome Builder~ $1,500, Joe ?~alo $1,500,
Ronnie Watts $ at $~i~000 each, Assembly of God $1,500 and Lamonte H~ Noore $1,000.

excluded fr~ the municipality by Chapter 10960, Laws of Florida, Acts

given due c nsideration to said application,

the ~ity taxes for the years 1917 to 1921, inclusive, are not shown as
paid~ on,the public records in the office of the Clerk of the City Of
0kee~hobee for the following described real property situa~ in the
City! of 0keechobee, Florida, t o-wit:
!Beginning 1,426 feet North of SE Corner of Section 21,
Township 37 South, Range 35 East, run West 357.86 feet,
~more or less, t o the East boundary of Parrott Avenue,

whic~ was redeemed on April 2, 1921, by L. A Hough, however, there
is $ record of the redemption other than shown on the tax sale record
and She receipt issued is not available from among the records after
sea,h, and
WHE S, Frank lltobello, the present owner of tho hereinbefore des-
cri~d~ real property, has complained to the City Clerk that this
pla s a cloud 'upon the title to said land and until same is removed,
he hindred from negotiating when this property is u~ed as a basis
for ~Uch negotiations, and
V~IE~gAS, the City Council is of the opinion that this cloud should be
romped from the public records of the city,
NOW,i ~HEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of' the City of
0ke+hobee in adjourned session convened for the express purpose of
